@CraigCaplan Congress wants changes to ICE , how officers conduct themselves while withholding funding from DHS but all the officers and peoples that these changes affect are getting a paycheck. So the incentive for them “ to do better or change” is not there at all.

Senate Democrats, led by Sen. Patty Murray (WA), the top Democrat on the Senate Appropriations Committee, have sought unanimous consent to pass a bill funding DHS agencies including TSA, FEMA, CISA, the Coast Guard, and the Secret Service — while deliberately excluding ICE and CBP. Republicans have blocked it multiple times.

Senate Democrats need to join with us to get @DHSgov funded, so we can pay hardworking Americans from TSA to CISA, the folks who work to keep our nation safe. If Democrats want to continue to debate @ICEgov reforms, we can do that, but at the very least, join with us in passing a Continuing Resolution so @TSA gets paid while we do it. Let’s fund DHS and move on from this unnecessary shutdown. We owe it to the hardworking Americans at the Department of Homeland Security.
