How many times does the phrase "faith alone" appear in the Bible? And what specifically does the Bible say about "faith alone"?
Frank Turek@DrFrankTurek
IMPORTANT QUESTION: Is salvation by faith alone, or by faith plus works?
English

@StephenCFoot @ScottAniol The original post is right. Most Christians speak of 'heaven as their home' and conceive it as eternal. That is soaked in our speech and singing. Yet heaven is a disembodied, temporary state. Few realise that 'earth is their home' and eternal state - in all its/our physicality...
English

@ScottAniol "Most Christians are functional Gnostics about the afterlife."
If that is true why have I not met even one who believes they will "float around as a spirit forever"?
I don't think you're talking about Christians at all because they neither believe or say such things.
English

@ScottAniol Which Reformed theologian are you talking about?

@Elohim_Gadol Satan was cast out of heaven during the life and ministry of Jesus (Luke 10, Rev 12).

@RobbieBrown71 @aigkenham Verse one says nothing about any Temple. It says, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth."
The beginning being the beginning, and "heavens and the earth" a merism for all of creation. There was no pre-existing material.
English

@Pathfinder4545 @aigkenham Wow. Just wow. Nobody is denying its existence. Sorry, if you can't understand the basics of what I am saying. Verse 1 is describing God creating His temple out of existing matter, not taking about an ex nihilo material creation.
English

@Pathfinder4545 @aigkenham No. The material creation had already occurred before Genesis takes up the story. Verse 1, is God creating a temple for Him to dwell in. That is what the six days are about, forming the earth from the matter of verse 2 that he had already created ex nihilo, whenever that was...
English

@RobbieBrown71 @aigkenham The Earth is material. The creation of the Earth is noted in verse one.
Verse one marks the creation of time, space, and matter. It is ex nihilo.
English

@Pathfinder4545 @aigkenham Of course, the book does begins verse 1. But the material creation story is not part of Genesis. The book is telling a functional creation story and so has nothing to say about when the world was created ex nihilo. Verse 1 introduces us to the functional/temple creation...
English

@Pathfinder4545 @aigkenham The narrative of Genesis is about functional creation from existing matter (1: 2). It says nothing about material creation - ex nihilo. This is already assumed to have occured before Genesis takes up its story, about the existent creation becoming a temple for God to dwell in...
English

@Pathfinder4545 @aigkenham Nobody is denying ex nihilo. But material creation had already ocurred before Genesis began. The second verse of your Bible tells that there was already matter, energy and water - ready for functional creation to commence.
English

@RobbieBrown71 @aigkenham Nope. It's creation ex nihilo. There was no "already existent matter". God made everything.

🚨 JUST IN: Roman Abramovich set for sensational Chelsea return 👀💙
Reports suggest Abramovich has won his legal battle with the UK government, with compensation expected to be paid as part of the resolution.
This development could clear the path for him to take over Chelsea once again, with a crucial meeting now anticipated between Abramovich and BlueCo.
Discussions are said to centre around ownership structure, financial balance, and the terms of his potential return to the club.
If this materialises, it would be one of the most dramatic twists in football history.
Chelsea fans… would you welcome him back to the club? 👀💭

A man can have sex with a woman he is engaged too. Engagement means the terms of the covenant has been set. Once he has sexual intercourse with her, she becomes his wife.
No need to have a pastor, ceremony, cake, or anything. But you can have a feast if you want to. The witnesses aren't for the "wedding", the wedding is quite literally the consummation. You can have witnesses to that if you want I guess. But the witnesses are for the terms of the covenant, that it may be established. Thst way the bride's father is certain to get the 12 cows the groom agreed to purchase her for.
Everything about modern weddings is wack.

@AdamSchefter One year, plus a two year option is three years, not five. And $80m x 2 plus $20m equals $180m, not $172m...

Comp update: Kirk Cousins will sign a five-year, $172 million deal with the Raiders that in reality is a one-year, fully-guaranteed $20 million deal that also contains a club option for two years at $80M.
The Falcons will pay Cousins $8.7 million this season, the Raiders another $1.3 million and Las Vegas also agreed to pay its new QB a fully-guaranteed $10 million roster bonus on the third day of the 2027 new league year.
And maybe most notably, it also sets another new mark: this will be the 11th straight NFL season in which Cousins’ contract will be fully guaranteed.
