What most everyone will remember from @Kipyegon_Faith sub 4min mile attempt are her responses afterwards:
“I feel good that I tried… it’s only a matter of time… I will still go for it.” It’s an awesome thing to invite the whole world in to watch your positive strivings.
English

@doctorinigo @davidasinclair Or perhaps due to his intense stress from the terrible crime of eating the snack bar.
English

At your age, already experiencing glucose dysregulation from a snack bar and to the point of feeling ill, is a strong indicator of impaired mitochondrial function and poor metabolic flexibility. This reflects poor metabolic health which is a strong marker of accelerated or unhealthy aging…You are still young to be experiencing these issues…
English

I agree. Running is running. If you want to get into the running vs. jogging thing (putting aside no one calls it jogging anymore), that's about EFFORT, not PACE.
David Dack@DavidDack
If you think a 12-minute mile isn’t running, then you really don't know what you're talking about. In fact, shut up and you'll be doing the world a big favor. Sure you still can call it slow if you want, but quitting? That’s not on the table.
English

@stevemagness No, I've run 5Ks. They're brutal. My issue is the implied elitism here. It's bad enough many folks in the competitive running world worship the person gifted with speed but call a 4-hour marathon "jogging"; we don't need everyone else to do that too.
English

No one is trying to downplay any achievements. It’s great people are running regardless.
But these are two different performance stratospheres. And just like your kid can give a ton of effort at little league baseball, someone playing in a Major League Baseball game is more impressive.
We often give short shift to the difficulty of the shorter events. And you kind of did in that post.
English

Most problems outlast the workout. They just won't seem as big.
Sahil Bloom@SahilBloom
There are very few problems that can outlast a 60 minute workout.
English

@brady_h The environmental impact of a 4-minute mile is just a tad less…
English

Is summiting Mt. Everest now equivalent to breaking the 4-minute mile?
A feat that’s still rare yet accomplished by enough people that’s it’s no longer *that* impressive.

@brady_h What everyone else said plus strong arms look good.
English

🤔
Runners. Is it weird to want stronger arms?
Oliver Varney@OliverVarney3
@brady_h Interesting you want to train your upper body being a runner
English

@BowTiedRunning 😂😂 The replies are so good, though.
English

@hpfounder A lot of supplements bother me, but these three do not. Mg is truly a wonder.
English

@hubermanlab @brady_h @stevemagness Yes, all three! I HATE sprinting but I try to make myself do it.
English

@brady_h The world of online health hates this but it’s: Sprint AND run (distance) AND lift (heavy for strength). Agree @stevemagness has been making some really great points lately about running - especially the “best/actual V02 Max test is a 1 mile run for time.” (Paraphrasing)
English

@brady_h 😂 Steve wins again. This guy's post is just another "real men" post. He probably doesn't eat vegetables either.
English

@DrNadolsky It amazes me people still believe shame is the answer to behavior change. Did they never take a psychology class? They make shitty parents too.
English

@brady_h I was told (by a passenger princess) that the PP provides the snacks and takes care of the driver. On road trips, not driving to the grocery store.
English

@MerriamWebster Mission. What you say when you want to sound dedicated.
English

@brady_h Meanwhile, it’s cold here in Denver and I feel annoyed despite the fact runs are easier.
English

@BowTiedRunning If drinking to thirst worked, no one would get dehydrated. Thirst is so unreliable.
