𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐏𝐌𝐂 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐎𝐮𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐊𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 A Kothrud resident recently uncovered a disturbing reality on the ground—reckless tree trimming being carried out under official PMC permission. When questioned, the PMC officer on site produced a written approval. On paper, it authorised “tree trimming.” In practice, it authorised tree destruction. The permission itself was fundamentally flawed and unscientific. It directed removal of all growth above three metres, a condition that no mature tree can survive. Acting on this order, workers chopped off all major branches, leaving trees virtually leafless, structurally damaged, and biologically doomed. This was not maintenance. This was planned mutilation. In total, 27 fully grown, mature trees were subjected to this so-called trimming—effectively felled without ever calling it felling. The operation was overseen by the PMC Garden Department, exposing how unscientific, poorly worded, and possibly malicious permissions are being routinely used to bypass the Tree Act. When a permission guarantees death, the crime is not at the site—it is at the desk where the approval was signed.
