@JustRed_69 Very true, it feels like a form of gaslighting. Especially when their reply begins “you think that..” when I’ve said nothing like it. I’m trying to tell them what I think if they’d just actually take time to comprehend it!

Why do so many people on social media geniunely think themself psychic when interacting with strangers? They create a fantasy world in their head where you do XYZ, then abuse you for the creations of their own mind. The icing on top? They accuse you of living in a fantasy world 🤔

Just driven over 100 miles from West to East Wales. Went through four 20mph areas, three took less than a minute to get through, the rest of the journey, 50mph,60mph and national speed limits. Stop listening to the rubbish being spouted about 20mph blanket speed limits in Wales.

The Highway Code Rule 167 explicitly states that a driver must not overtake approaching or at a level crossing. The driver overtook in the prohibited zone, creating a risk of collision with other road users and trains. This conduct appears to contravene the Level Crossing Regulations and meets the definition of careless or potentially dangerous driving.

@IndieChris71 Not that same old line. LTNs don’t reduce car usage. Instead they make trips longer & reroute traffic from areas of high car ownership onto poor roads that tend to be where bus routes are. Get the facts. Check out the last census. See who lives in the poor rds & uses buses.

@johnnyboy9918 @JustRed_69 @FoobarSaunders @ArtistCyclist The statement was that bicycles do no damage therefore cost nothing. I pushed back on this as there is obviously a construction and maintenance cost. "Everyone" may pay for the roads, but car drivers pay extra by way of annual tax and duty on fuel, why?

Let's all agree cyclists should pay Vehicle Excise Duty like car drivers have to. To be consistent we should calculate it using the same methods applied to motorised vehicles. Cyclists do not create emissions and do not damage the road. Therefore the charge comes to zero. Result.

@JulianHSteward @ArtistCyclist We all pay towards the cost of roads. What primarily degrades them is the pounding from all the motor vehicles. The tarmac cycle way near me hasn’t been resurfaced for 25 years and it’s still fine, for example

@ArtistCyclist Last time I checked, it costs money to build a road. They also degrade over time irrespective of any traffic. Want to use a road, pay towards its cost.

@ArtistCyclist And yet the most used excuse to use the road instead of the cyclist lane is that the road is in a better state. Damn cars damaging the cyclist lane.

@The_UK0 @Sir56ALot @anon_opin I’m glad you agree with me, but now you’re arguing the opposite of what you said before. I think you just don’t understand road capacity planning.

@FoobarSaunders @Sir56ALot @anon_opin Correct, the faster you go the bigger the gap has to be. So when there is the capacity for it increase the speed limit to get those cars off the road before there isn’t the space for it

The speed limit for motorways / dual carriageways should be 60mph. Safer and more fuel efficient than driving at 70mph and, at a mile a minute, easy to estimate journey times.

@BenGrahamUK @but_cyclists You don’t have a clue do you? Let’s see you get on a bike and be close passed by an HGV then see if you don’t feel vulnerable.

@but_cyclists Cyclists aren't vulnerable, they are usually just incompetent when it comes to road laws.

£2 million. On a roundabout. Not even a new road, just a redesigned junction in Hemel Hempstead. This Dutch style layout prioritises cyclists and pedestrians, forces drivers to give way multiple times, and is so confusing the council had to release a 3 minute explainer video just to show people how to use it. Meanwhile, roads crumble, services struggle, and bills rise. This isn’t investment. It’s mismanagement.

@Cycliq It’s the fault of cyclists. They ride on the road against the direction of traffic on a One Way Street. It’s just a ridiculous idea. Seriously, who thought that would be ok?!

This is why you often see cyclists riding in the middle of the lane, in many cases it's much safer to do so than riding near the kerb. At the time, I trusted the driver of this car to wait a few seconds until there was space to overtake me safely. They didn't and received a NIP.

@The_UK0 @Sir56ALot @anon_opin The faster you go the bigger the gap has to be between vehicles, so you reduce the motorway capacity. “Too many cars” isn’t an absolute but a reflection of the capacity. You haven’t thought this through.

@FoobarSaunders @Sir56ALot @anon_opin Congestion is too many cars being on the motorway at the same time, spending less time on the motorway will reduce congestion

@anon_opin I'd rather like to be home after a 5 hour drive, instead of 50 miles from home. You can drive at 60mph if you want. You don't need to limit everyone else in order to do that. 90mph is perfectly safe on most motorways (and dual carriageways if they're built to motorway standards).

@Sir56ALot @anon_opin If you spend less time on the motorway by the time the congestion is there you’ve already got to your destination meaning there is less congestion because you’re not adding to it
