@DPJHodges Yet another lesson about the consequences of Trump’s Presidency: allowing US bases on any non-US territory is a threat to the host country’s national security

Can someone explain how a direct attack on UK territory, one that drastically alters the nature of the Iranian tactical and strategic threat to the UK, Europe and other allies, is not something the Government thinks should be shared with the British people or Parliament.

🔴The Italian Prime Minister launches a scathing attack on #Trump 🔴You must understand that you are only the president of #America, not #Italy, #France, or #Germany, and you will not have the right to dictate to the sovereignty of these countries. 🔴You are the one who made the Strait of #Hormuz unsafe because of your war with the Iranians, and we will not join you against them. You are obligated before the world to restore it to its previous state of safety for the passage of #oil tankers. 🔴Europe will not bear responsibility for your decisions, whether they are right or wrong, and Italy refuses to be part of this war, from which we will gain nothing but harm.

Still can't believe that the people who brought us Boris Johnson and Liz Truss have the f**king temerity to even suggest that Kier Starmer is the worst Prime Minister ever. It's not even remotely close.

Iran has missiles which can threaten the UK, Europe and British territory overseas. Tehran lied about it because they are a hostile regime which will never negotiate in good faith. Iran is an imminent threat to the West - and it must be neutered.
Brett McGurk@brett_mcgurk

Speaks for itself: Feb. 25, 2026: “We are not developing long-range missiles… we have limited the range below 2,000 kilometers” — Iran’s FM Araghchi (IRNA). March 20, 2026: Iran fires missiles at Diego Garcia—ranging 4,000 kilometers (WSJ). ⬇️

I told the PM in Commons 3 weeks ago that Iran is a permanent threat to UK Now truth is out that their ballistic missile range is much longer than many believed Now even Starmer must realise that Tehran has to be properly disarmed by US and Israel telegraph.co.uk/opinion/2026/0…

@KBearK99 @richard_swatman @oldguy_steve Oh of course, silly me. There was I thinking that Iran would view escorting ships as supporting the US war and therefore a target, but now you’ve mansplained it’s obvious Iran would never dream of attacking escorts 🙄

@richard_swatman @oldguy_steve Escorting ships is a policing action. If preformed by the UN, as their charter states, they would likely lower tensions as well as oil prices. But then you would have little to complain about now would you?

You want the NATO allies to join you in a war you started without ever consulting these allies about the war or explaining your war aims. We’re meant just to meekly fall in line. You recently supported a US invasion of a NATO ally (Denmark/Greenland) but now you want these same allies to join your war. Your president disparaged and misrepresented the role of NATO allies in Afghanistan. But now you want them to join with you again in a war of your making. You went to war with Iran without a thought of how to keep the Strait of Hormuz open and without involving your allies in the matter. But now you want the NATO allies to bail you out, even though there’s still no plan for Hormuz. You want the NATO allies to join you in a war in which you still cannot articulate the endgame. Or what victory would look like. You went to war thinking the Iranian regime would quickly topple, that Tehran would not attack the Gulf States or close Hormuz. Why would we align with such Epic Stupidity? You and other know-nothing blowhards started this war all on your own. You can finish it on your own. If you’re able to …

Just spoke to @POTUS about our European allies’ unwillingness to provide assets to keep the Strait of Hormuz functioning, which benefits Europe far more than America. I have never heard him so angry in my life. I share that anger given what’s at stake. The arrogance of our allies to suggest that Iran with a nuclear weapon is of little concern and that military action to stop the ayatollah from acquiring a nuclear bomb is our problem not theirs is beyond offensive. The European approach to containing the ayatollah’s nuclear ambitions have proven to be a miserable failure. The repercussions of providing little assistance to keep the Strait of Hormuz functioning are going to be wide and deep for Europe and America. I consider myself very forward-leaning on supporting alliances, however at a time of real testing like this, it makes me second guess the value of these alliances. I am certain I am not the only senator who feels this way.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is so scared of the radicalised, terror-sympathetic parts of his base that he doesn’t dare say the word “Israel,” and calls the US-Israel alliance that just saved the world from nuclear Armageddon a “US operation.” He has made the UK a joke.

@AMilitantAgnost @FoxNews @POTUS We might have helped if Trump had bothered to ask *before* he kicked off global chaos. Now he’s floundering and looking for someone else to blame, but the rest of is need to pay?? How many US lives will your tolls take?

@FoxNews The US needs to take the Strait of Hormuz ourselves. Then start charging tolls to any country that refused to help. Let them know that the tolls will continue until the cost of the war on Iran has been recouped. @POTUS, what do you think about that?

Trump spent months calling NATO obsolete. Threatening Canada with the 51st state. Slapping tariffs on allies. Demanding Europe pay up or lose protection. Insulting world leaders to their faces. Abandoning Ukraine. Calling Germany weak and France irrelevant. Now he needs them. France: no. Germany: no. Norway: no. Canada: never. Japan: officially no. Switzerland: airspace closed. You don’t spend a year burning every bridge and then call for backup when the building is on fire. $21 billion spent. 14 Americans dead. Oil at $102. The Strait mined. Taiwan surrounded. Baghdad evacuated. NATO threatened with a “very bad future.” The allies didn’t abandon America. America spent a year telling them to leave. They listened. Never stop connecting the dots.

🚨 BREAKING: President Trump reveals he is partially asking for help in the Strait of Hormuz just to see if our "allies" will actually act like allies "I'm almost doing it, in some cases, not because we need them, but because I want to find out how they react!" "Because I've been saying for years that if we ever did need them, they won't be there. Not all of them, but they won't be there." "I was very surprised with the United Kingdom. Because the United Kingdom, two weeks ago, I said, why don't you send some ships over?" "And he really didn't want to do it. I said, you don't want to do it. We've been with you. You're our oldest ally. And we spend a lot of money on NATO and all of these things to protect you." "I mean, we're protecting them. We're working with them on Ukraine. Ukraine's thousands of miles away, separated by a vast ocean. We don't have to do that. We did it!"
