@apsmithny @OsseChi The courts will ultimately decide if this is deed theft but they’ve already issued a stay of evictions on the property so it seems theres at least enough evidence of deed theft to issue that until its settled.

@apsmithny @OsseChi The conservator for Allman is the root of it being deed theft. They were appointed for him instead of his children and are trying to sell the house his children live in, a house he also apparently isn’t sole owner of.

Council Member Chi Ossé was just arrested while defending his constituent, Carmella Charrington, from eviction. This is the result of deed theft and the ongoing displacement of Black homeowners in Bed-Stuy. Our office is closely monitoring this situation and will provide updates as this develops.

@apsmithny @OsseChi But if it is a family member who never had the authority to do so then it’s pretty sucky for those who live there to be kicked out. If your cousin lies and sells your house without your authority or knowledge should you lose your house?

@apsmithny @OsseChi They paid someone who did not have the authority to sell the house, fairly common form of deed theft. Either a family member who should not have been able to sell it or someone committing fraud

@OsseChi How is it “deed theft”? According to the deed dated 1/22/24 - 227 Group LLC paid the family $1,400,000 for it.

On this day in history in 2021, thousands of peaceful grandmothers and others gathered in Washington, D.C., to take a self-guided, albeit unauthorized, tour of the U.S. Capitol building. Earlier that day, President Trump held a rally, where supporters walked to the Capitol to exercise their First Amendment right about the irregularities of the 2020 election. During this time, some individuals entered the Capitol, took photos, and explored the building before leaving. Afterwards, hundreds of peaceful protestors were hunted down, arrested, held in solitary confinement, treated unjustly and crucified in the media. Countless hours and taxpayer dollars were spent pursuing grandmothers and raiding President Trump’s home, while terrorists and millions of illegal immigrants crossed our nation’s borders, causing havoc in our communities. Fortunately, this version of the DOJ exists only in history.
