They were not guessing. They were executing. That is what system football does. It elevates players who understand space, timing, and structure. It gives them a framework to maximize their strengths. When Carrick came in, the team shifted back to a 4-3-3 with less emphasis on patterns and more reliance on individual quality. The structure disappeared. Now, instead of operating within clear roles, players are making decisions in isolation. Movements are less coordinated, and connections between players are weaker. For players like Mbeumo and Amad, that change is significant. They are system players. I think it's going to take a very special individual 'moment' if we are to score. Again, we don't look convincing on the ball today. I just get the feeling that if the second half continues in the same way, one of Villa's counters in transition from us losing the ball is going to lead to a goal. Amad was really unlucky with that header. It was a fantastic save from Martinez. Diogo Dalot had a really good chance from a really good ball from Bruno Fernandes. The right back did the hard part, bringing the ball down to create a goalscoring opportunity, but the shot was terrible.
