@Seung4680 @AI_EmeraldApple Elden ring has no story when compared to witcher, rdr2 etc.. and its still amazing. This is no different

@AI_EmeraldApple Why invest time with no story?
Massive world, zero soul. Expressions are flat, the voice acting lacks variety. You know what I’m talking about.

My first impression so far...
Crimson Desert is a VASTLY complex game that is a deep dive... a true single-player sandbox game that most modern players are not used to.
So far, the main issue many people have with Crimson Desert is that it doesn't include the typical "hand-holding" common in most Western AAA games.
It has barely any tutorials and no spoon-fed mechanics, leading to the overwhelming, confusing, and obtuse complaints coming from many players. For most things, you are left to "figure it out on your own", and for many players like me who love the complexity, that's the beauty of it.
For me, I HATE tutorials. I hate game "onboarding". I want to just dive in and explore the world and figure out the mechanics as I go along.
The other issue is the story. The story is mid, but for the game, the story is just there as a backdrop, not as the main focus of the game. The real "plot" is whatever adventure you, as a player, go on... not some linear track story common with pretty much every other western AAA game.
For me so far... the beauty is in the discovery, the “oh shit, that’s how it works” moments, hours of exploration and experimentation.
That is where the friction is so far.
Complex controls, complex combos, Inventory where you can't loot everything you want, convoluted crafting system, a quest line that doesn't hand-hold, no theme park, no linear narrative epic, and a world where a rabbit hole deep dive is the point.
This isn't a game like Elden Ring where its hard but simple, or other open-world games where mechanics are spelled out for you. It really feels like an old-school sandbox with a 2026 open-world glowup.

@mediocremilton_ Yeah I’m heavy dlss frame gen even on a monster rig, performance is BAD

@Adiofreak 9 hours in and love it. Controls are fine, if you've played Black Desert, you're fine with them.

From the footage shown before release, I could already tell Crimson Desert was shaping up to be more of a technical demo than a fully realized game.
That it would feel like an MMO in everything but name.
That the story would barely be there.
And people went for my throat over it.
And I get it, when a game you’re excited about doesn’t meet expectations, it stings.
But pretending criticism comes out of nowhere, or that people are just “hating,” isn’t helping anyone. A lot of us are just saying: manage your expectations.
We literally had this debate weeks ago: does story matter in games?
And yeah, gameplay is important. But for most players, no amount of systems or content will keep them around if there’s no story to anchor it.
If anything, this should be a reminder that hype culture is toxic, for players and studios.
Because when something looks too good to be true…
it usually is.

@bradmillscan Mine spent $60 worth of tokens when it recommended to switch a lighter model as primary and the reached tpm limit.. after which it kept trying to solve the issue only to come to the conclusion that we can keep 5.4 as main.

350-400 hours into OpenClaw over the last 33 days non-stop, no days off...I'm ready to quit.
My openclaw is fucking lost in the weeds every day today and it's driving me nuts.
Basic shit. I asked it to use GitHub. it has a GitHub skill. We have a GitHub SOP.
I can see it's thinking process about using skills, then narrating how the skill doesn't exist, then going and inventing ways to retrieve the capability to use GitHub from the internet.
I tell it to look in the openclaw docs for the proper skill path, it says "oops my bad, yeah it was there after all."
This is ChatGPT 5.4 with extra high thinking turned on.
I ask it to diagnose the problem only, so it goes and sees the system prompt is telling it to look at the wrong place, and it goes to GitHub and opens a GitHub issue about this 'bug' without even asking me.
What the actual fuck. 3 hours on a Sunday of trying to rewire the brain of my openclaw to do default-behaviour.
This thing such a productivity suck & mental poison.
I can't do anything useful or positive with OpenClaw because I'm nonstop fighting fires in the engine room.
I'm thinking about giving up.

@FudgeFuturistic I sometimes sleep on the couch. Mainly because I breathe loudly at night due to deviated septum and i'm fine sleeping anywhere and that way she gets some rest.

Romania allowing the USA to use its air bases for Middle East operations is out of line. As a NATO member, Romania hosting US military operations in the Middle East ties European security to regional conflicts. This shows how Middle East tensions pull European NATO members into such operations.
