Teaching year 11 chemistry this morning. Majority of students out for their geography exam, and several have computer science this afternoon. I'm not sure what is being achieved by having year 11s in regular lessons at this time of year, for students or staff.

Only 9% of people in prison have 5+ GCSEs and only 2% have passed 2+ A levels. About 2/3 of adults in prison are functionally illiterate. Academic attainment is one of the most powerful protective factors.

@greeborunner @adamboxer1 If someone is flighty, repeatedly, then given how implementation is over time they are definitely someone who we should be extremely careful of listening to.

I genuinely don't know how we solve the "education track record problem" People with ZERO experience teaching or leading in successful schools, but being payed 000's and invited to panels, roundtables, DfE etc..

As a teacher, this is what I want to say to SOME parents: Stop making excuses for your kids. STOP IT. Teach them to earn things, not demand things. Hold them to a higher standard. Challenge them. That way, when I try to challenge them, they’ll know we both expect it.

When I started teaching in 2000, heads were in the role for a long time. They really knew their communities. It feels like people move on so swiftly these days. Maybe I’m just old and misremembering. The past is a foreign country: they do things differently there.

Hi all, 9Z have bought some cows and are now taking orders for milk, cheese and yoghurt. Nothing to do with their Future Business Leaders Scheme but the fact that their English Homework “Keep a diary for four weeks” was put onto TEAMS as “Keep a dairy for four weeks”. Thanks x
