My advice: if you’re like me and teaching gospel doctrine, lean into this. Cut the fluff. No more recapping full lessons. Prayerfully identify 1-2 doctrinal points. Go deep into them. You don’t need an hour to make an impact. Ask good questions and let the spirit guide you.

Donald Trump was overwhelmingly elected by the American people to be our President and Commander in Chief. As our Commander in Chief, he is responsible for determining what is and is not an imminent threat, and whether or not to take action he deems necessary to protect the safety and security of our troops, the American people and our country.  The Office of the Director of National Intelligence is responsible for helping coordinate and integrate all intelligence to provide the President and Commander in Chief with the best information available to inform his decisions.  After carefully reviewing all the information before him, President Trump concluded that the terrorist Islamist regime in Iran posed an imminent threat and he took action based on that conclusion.

I realized something else AI has changed about coding: you don't get stuck anymore. Programming used to be punctuated by episodes of extreme frustration, when a tricky bug ground things to a halt. That doesn't happen anymore.

For decades, Iran’s regime has acted as a destabilizing force—arming terrorist proxies, mass slaughtering its own people, and pursuing nuclear capabilities with explicit intent to destroy Israel and America. They have targeted and killed Americans abroad and are actively attempting to assassinate Iranians and Americans on U.S. soil, and even the President. Peace is preserved through strength and resolve. Our Commander-in-Chief is taking planned, targeted action to protect the American people, stand with our allies, and promote stability in an increasingly dangerous world. I look forward to robust engagement between the Administration and Congress as this situation unfolds. May God bless and protect our troops.

I grew up Republican. Still am in many ways. But MAGA pushed the party so far right that I get called a liberal now. Let me explain the difference: Traditional Republicans believe in: • Fiscal responsibility (balanced budgets, not exploding deficits for tax cuts) • Limited government (actual small government, not big government that punishes your enemies) • Strong institutions (courts, elections, constitutional norms matter) • Personal responsibility (your actions have consequences) • Free markets (not tariffs and trade wars) • Strong alliances (NATO, international partnerships) • Rule of law (no one is above it, including the president) MAGA Republicans believe in: • Whatever Trump says today (even if it contradicts yesterday) • Loyalty tests (agree 100% or you're a traitor/RINO) • Conspiracy theories over facts (stolen election, deep state, QAnon adjacent stuff) • Grievance politics (owning the libs > actual policy) • Personality cult (Trump loyalty above party, above country, above truth) • Performative outrage (culture war theater instead of governance) • Ends justify means (storm the Capitol, ignore election results, whatever it takes) I didn't move left. The party moved off a cliff. I still believe in conservative principles. But when you say "maybe we should respect election results" or "fiscal responsibility matters" or "rule of law applies to everyone," you get called a liberal. That's not conservatism. That's a cult.

As things were unfolding on Saturday from the tragic and fatal shooting in Minneapolis, I received numerous messages demanding I immediately condemn what happened. I see the reporting at the same time as everyone else, and I try never to rush to judgment, something we can all do better. After seeing several angles and with my relatively novice eye and understanding of “use of force” guidelines, this clearly requires an in-depth investigation. I fully support that, and I am encouraged that it was an apparent outcome from President Trump and Gov. Walz’s call today.   In my review, I did not see anything that supported the characterization of Alex Pretti “brandishing” a firearm. Government officials can best serve the public when we don’t rush to make judgments before reviewing all the evidence.  I spent the afternoon with a group of constituents from across the political spectrum hearing their perspectives on a proposed way forward on all aspects of immigration. I know there are solutions that will move us beyond the crossroads at which we find ourselves, and I maintain hope that we can accomplish this. I’m grateful for the agents who are working hard in tremendously difficult circumstances. In my five years in this role, I have seen the worst possible circumstances, like during the Biden Administration when 53 migrants suffocated to death while being smuggled across the border, the drowning of a Texas National Guardsman, and now two fatal shootings of protestors this month. There is a better way, and I hope we can implement with public support the policies that keep our country safe and provide a productive way forward.

@BarackObama The wake-up call is to stay away from law enforcement officers when they’re making an arrest. It doesn’t matter is it’s police, sheriff, FBI, or ICE, back off and let them do their jobs.

The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault.

I don't believe Renee Good wanted to drive into an ICE agent, and I don't believe the ICE agent wanted to execute a protester. Panic and prior trauma explain their behavior very well So a lot of commentary is falling flat for me, because I don't think intent is the issue
