Eng team: “we’re doing more with less [fewer people] this is amazing! 🔥 “ Reality for *some* products I use that are like this: there’s a lot less alignment + friction needed thanks to a lot smaller teams. The “alignment” and “friction” no longer present: customer empathy, QA… So the eng team in this case often builds stuff customers cannot use/don’t use/don’t want to use, and far more stuff seen as buggy 🤷‍♂️

@volfpeter @GergelyOrosz This times a million. Very limited experience in this new world, but it seems like now product guidance and vision is replaced with the feature firehose. Every request and ask, no matter how bespoke or minor, gets prioritized, because why not?

@DC_DeWitt Let’s not forget the vast majority of these were on the government payroll which by default would make it appear there is prosperity but that is an illusion. Take away the taxpayers paid for housing, food etc and see what happens!

@daveweigel There was a productivity boom in the 1990s that largely offset all the fiscal tightening. When the deficit was fully wiped out by the end of his tenure, the dot-com bubble burst and there was a bit of a recession

There’s clearly a ratchet effect with tax cuts. Some part of this; Dems keep taking office during crises (2009/2021) when it would be stupid to raise taxes. But people instantly get used to new rates and breaks, Dems just say — okay keep them, we’ll just tap the billionaires.

Cohen: Why you are proud to be an American, and how do you view our country today Chappelle: Boy, that's a loaded question. Now I see why Trump gets mad at y'all all the time. Why would you ask me that? I got an answer for that.  I don't agree with everything that our government does. But the one thing that I've really consistently believe in that I love about being an American is my countrymen. If I'm, if I'm overseas or around the world, anytime I see an American over there, we just give each other the fight club look, because we live in a madness that only we really understand what it's all about. And I have faith in my countrymen, no matter how crazy all of this will make it feel that the sun will rise and that I feel like I'm part of a very incredible community. So god bless my countrymen and let us make this country absolutely great. And Mr. Trump please leave those Haitians in Springfield alone. We love them. We love the Haitians.

@darreldrowland It’s always hilarious when liberals tell us what Jesus would do. Caring for “the least of these” and “suffer the little children to come unto me” is MUCH different than letting in freeloading criminals, rapists and muslims wanting to outbreed us and eliminate the Christians.

@besttrousers Combination actually…the welfare benefits allow immigrants to work at wages lower than the average American can work. Rend and food and housing subsidies…allow immigrants to take jobs at the lowest wages. Those subsidies distort the labor market.

@nfruss5 @darreldrowland Do you not understand how economies work? Companies fill openings, grow, and then hire more. As there are more workers, we see new grocery stores, restaurants, daycares. The city was shrinking the last 60 years, as young residents moved, which meant less working age adults.
