@napping_99 @GergelyOrosz Especially frustrating since for the longest time, the common pushback to testing and practices like TDD was “that’s too much time / too expensive” Welp now that argument is gone, but instead of using this new capacity for testing and quality, it’s just feature feature feature

@GergelyOrosz >So the eng team in this case often builds stuff customers cannot use/don’t use/don’t want to use, and far more stuff seen as buggy 🤷‍♂️ I'm seeing that too. It's like we are transitioning in a new era where we all know "this software is buggy but it's ok, it is what it is."

Eng team: “we’re doing more with less [fewer people] this is amazing! 🔥 “ Reality for *some* products I use that are like this: there’s a lot less alignment + friction needed thanks to a lot smaller teams. The “alignment” and “friction” no longer present: customer empathy, QA… So the eng team in this case often builds stuff customers cannot use/don’t use/don’t want to use, and far more stuff seen as buggy 🤷‍♂️

@volfpeter @GergelyOrosz This times a million. Very limited experience in this new world, but it seems like now product guidance and vision is replaced with the feature firehose. Every request and ask, no matter how bespoke or minor, gets prioritized, because why not?

@GergelyOrosz Most engineers are disconnected from the product and users, for one reason or another AI is terrible at product Most PMs are not great either, and they get less pushback, bc shipping a feature is easier...

@dedene @GergelyOrosz All these people talking about it, but without anyone (that I’ve seen or heard) give a clear explanation of what they’re actually doing, what the use case is or what the workflow looks like That feels noteworthy. “I’m able to fly, but I can’t show you”

@GergelyOrosz I'm also not buying it's a "whole new paradigm". You ask your agent to do something repetitive, and repeat until the task is done. Am I a "loop engineer" now?

What is "loop engineering" to you, anyway? Been looking into this, and also experimenting myself... and I'm not (yet?) buying that it's a new paradigm. But I might just be missing something. Can you share "loops" you regularly use?

@james_rose74 @DC_DeWitt What housing programs do non-citizens qualify for? You people can’t decide whether they’re taking all the jobs or living on welfare, which non-citizens aren’t eligible to receive

@DC_DeWitt Let’s not forget the vast majority of these were on the government payroll which by default would make it appear there is prosperity but that is an illusion. Take away the taxpayers paid for housing, food etc and see what happens!

@MaxSterman @daveweigel Ehhh was there? I know that sounds plausible, given the dot com boom and the adoption of internet, but the data shows productivity mostly growing at the same pace it has been

@daveweigel There was a productivity boom in the 1990s that largely offset all the fiscal tightening. When the deficit was fully wiped out by the end of his tenure, the dot-com bubble burst and there was a bit of a recession

There’s clearly a ratchet effect with tax cuts. Some part of this; Dems keep taking office during crises (2009/2021) when it would be stupid to raise taxes. But people instantly get used to new rates and breaks, Dems just say — okay keep them, we’ll just tap the billionaires.

@darreldrowland Luke 11:21: "When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are safe." Nehemiah 4:14: "Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your homes."

You blast the dreaded liberals for improper scriptural interpretation...yet you cite not one single verse to back up your argument Let's see at least a tidbit of legitimate exegesis...and a little less eisegesis, which is a temptation to us all
Evan Deer@NoVidJabsEver

@darreldrowland It’s always hilarious when liberals tell us what Jesus would do. Caring for “the least of these” and “suffer the little children to come unto me” is MUCH different than letting in freeloading criminals, rapists and muslims wanting to outbreed us and eliminate the Christians.

@darreldrowland Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn a man against his father,a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law a man’s enemies will be members of his own house.

@besttrousers 51% for households headed by legal immigrants is at least one form of welfare This is higher than the ~37% rate for U.S.-born households Non-citizen legal immigrant households (mainly green card holders) show even higher rates, around 56%

@_Kodos_ @besttrousers Are you purposefully not understanding how companies work? They will add workers as long as doing so is productive You can engage with the points without acting stupid. I get that it probably feels better, but it makes you and your side look really silly

@besttrousers Combination actually…the welfare benefits allow immigrants to work at wages lower than the average American can work. Rend and food and housing subsidies…allow immigrants to take jobs at the lowest wages. Those subsidies distort the labor market.

@_Kodos_ @besttrousers Do workers only work, or do they also consume goods and services outside of work? Do companies, provided with new workers and expanded capacity, in turn hire even more workers if they’re productive enough?

@nfruss5 @darreldrowland Do you not understand how economies work? Companies fill openings, grow, and then hire more. As there are more workers, we see new grocery stores, restaurants, daycares. The city was shrinking the last 60 years, as young residents moved, which meant less working age adults.

Help an Ohioan out here... >Did large numbers of Haitians take Ohioans' jobs (despite Springfield's labor shortage)? >Or did large numbers of Haitians reap public assistance in Ohio instead of working? Hard to see how both these commonly espoused narratives can be true...
Wall Street Apes@WallStreetApes

Springfield Ohio resident says the illegal Haitians that were imported under the Biden Administration were then hired by Dole and paid $12.50 per hour He confirms American citizens were fired to hire the Haitians I have found confirmed local reports they were hired. They were imported for cheap labor to take American jobs I’ve also confirmed American citizen agriculture workers typically get paid $15–$22 per hour in Ohio So hiring these illegal Haitians and imported TPS Haitians on minimum wage saved dole a ton of money @Brookerteejones “Did Springfield's residents used to work at Dole? “Yes.” “So have they lost their jobs to Haitians?” “Yeah, a lot of them has”

@MilspecMoses @SamuriDotCom @fawfulfan I know you’re not from around here so you’re repeating things you don’t understand, but these residents in Springfield aren’t on welfare. They’re working manufacturing jobs in a town that lost a lot of working-age population. The city actively recruited immigrants to help
