Today, the 181st Infantry, 182nd Infantry, 101st Field Artillery, and 101st Engineer Battalion of the Massachusetts Army National Guard carry on the legacy as the oldest units in the U.S. military.

Through Florida Forever, DEP has acquired 21,600 acres in Levy County which will expand Goethe State Forest by 39% and permanently protect a vital tract of land in the Florida Wildlife Corridor.
As part of the Waccasassa Watershed Florida Forever Project, the property will:
✔️ Provide new opportunities for public recreation, including hiking, hunting, fishing and wildlife viewing.
✔️ Protect the water quality of the Waccasassa River and Big Bend Seagrasses Aquatic Preserve
✔️ Provide a protected habitat for nesting bald eagles, gopher tortoises and swallow-tailed kites.
✔️ Fill in critical gaps between existing conservation lands.

Today in Polk County, I was pleased to announce progress on several major projects that will bring congestion relief to the I-4 Corridor in Central Florida, including new express lanes, truck parking, and Advanced Air Mobility infrastructure. Not only will these improvements bring relief to commuters, but they will also allow for more efficient evacuations for both the East and West coasts of Florida in the event of an emergency. With the support of our historic infrastructure investments, @MyFDOT is overseeing nearly 700 active projects, including I-4 Corridor congestion relief efforts. The Moving Florida Forward initiative we launched in 2023 is helping high-priority projects—including improvements to the I-4 Corridor—reach the finish line well ahead of schedule. For two years in a row, Florida has ranked among the top five states with the highest quality roadways—far ahead of California, New York, and Massachusetts, where residents pay substantially higher taxes.

We have worked to modernize Florida’s transportation infrastructure to better serve the people of our growing state. Thanks to our conservative policies and responsible fiscal stewardship, Florida’s economy is booming, allowing us to make historic investments in infrastructure throughout the state. In 2023, we launched the Moving Florida Forward initiative with a $4 billion investment to accelerate much-needed projects across Florida that will quickly alleviate congestion on major interstates and arterial roadways. We are already seeing some of these projects reaching completion well ahead of schedule, and we will continue working to keep Florida among the top states with the highest-quality roadways in the country.

Today, we announced that Florida law enforcement stopped 173 kilograms of cocaine worth $17.3 million before it ever reached our streets. Thanks to a multi-agency effort between @FLHSMV, @DEAHQ, and our local partners, one of the largest recent drug seizures in our state was successfully carried out. Florida remains a national model for law and order. This operation is proof of that commitment. Our message to drug traffickers is clear: do not bring your poison into our state. We will find you, we will arrest you, and we will always stand on the front lines to protect Floridians.
