Commerce Secretary Shri @RajeshAgrawal94 noted that India and the U.S. announced a trade deal on 2nd February 2026, and a Joint Statement for the same was released on 7th February 2026. On 7th February 2026, the 25% additional ad-valorem tariffs imposed by the U.S. on certain Indian exports citing India’s imports of Russian oil were removed. Pursuant to the U.S. Supreme Court judgement dated 20th February 2026 invalidating reciprocal tariffs, the reciprocal tariffs are no longer in force. The U.S. Government has issued Executive Orders imposing 10% tariffs pursuant to Section 122 of the Trade Act, 1974 on certain products from all countries. DGFT has provided an automatic extension of the Export Obligation (EO) period up to 31 August 2026 for specified Advance Authorisation and EPCG Authorisations where EO was expiring between 1 March and 31 May 2026. Issued through Public Notice No. 51/2025–26 on 6 March 2026, the measure provides flexibility to exporters impacted by disruptions in global shipping routes and supply chains, supporting continued export performance. India and the Gulf Cooperation Council have formally launched negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement with the signing of the Terms of Reference on 5 February 2026 in New Delhi.
