বিজিবি'র ফায়ারিং পজিশনে আপত্তি বিএসএফ এর লালমনিরহাটের পাটগ্রামের তিনবিঘা করিডোর এলাকায় সীমান্তের শূন্যরেখা থেকে ১৫০ গজের মধ্যে কোনো স্থাপনা বা কাঁটাতারের বেড়া নির্মাণ করা যাবে না বলে বিএসএফকে স্পষ্টভাবে জানিয়েছে বিজিবি। সীমান্ত চুক্তি লঙ্ঘন করে ভারতীয় কর্তৃপক্ষ শূন্যরেখায় জমি মাপজোখ ও বাঁশের খুঁটি স্থাপন শুরু করলে বিজিবি বাধা দেয়। এ ঘটনাকে কেন্দ্র করে কয়েকটি সীমান্ত এলাকায় দুই বাহিনীর মধ্যে উত্তেজনা সৃষ্টি হয়। পরে বিজিবি ও বিএসএফের ব্যাটালিয়ন পর্যায়ের বৈঠকে বিএসএফ অভিযোগ করে, খুঁটি স্থাপনকে কেন্দ্র করে বিজিবি ‘ফায়ারিং পজিশনে’ গিয়েছিল। জবাবে বিজিবি জানায়, ১৯৭৪ সালের স্থল সীমান্ত চুক্তি অনুযায়ী ১৫০ গজের মধ্যে কোনো স্থাপনা নির্মাণ অনাকাঙ্ক্ষিত, তাই আত্মরক্ষার অংশ হিসেবে তারা প্রতিরোধমূলক অবস্থান নেয়। এদিকে এলাকা পরিদর্শনে এসে ভারতের পশ্চিমবঙ্গের বিজেপি বিধায়ক দধিরাম রায় বলেন, সীমান্তে কাঁটাতারের বেড়া নির্মাণের কাজ বন্ধ হবে না। তিনি জানান, পতাকা বৈঠকের মাধ্যমে আলোচনা চললেও সরকারের নির্দেশনা অনুযায়ী কাজ চালিয়ে যাওয়া হবে। তবে কালকের উত্তেজনার পর কোন কোন স্থানে বাশ খুলে নিয়েছে বিএসএফ এবং একই সাথে সিমান্তে সিভিলিয়ান কেউ আসেনি। ১৫০ ফিট বা ১১৭ মি এর মাঝে কোন স্থাপনা হলে আবারো ফায়ারিং পজিশনে যাবে বিজিবি - Defense Research Forum

Reports and viral videos showing attacks on minority Muslims, destruction of mosques, intimidation, and businesses being burned have left many people disturbed and heartbroken.
