Please retweet, CONVICTED | backyard breeders Michael Cross, 31, and Paige Ryan, 19, from #Barry, Vale of Glamorgan – subjected a breeding bulldog to repeated physical and emotional violence #WALES #UK - BOTH AVOIDED JAIL !! .Sadistic couple Cross and Ryan, who bred bulldogs under the name Crossfire Bullz, kept the dog, Luna, in an outdoor pen and were both observed by various witnesses subjecting her to regular beatings. .In court they each admitted causing unnecessary suffering to Luna by the infliction of physical and/or emotional abuse. .The RSPCA investigated after receiving video footage showing both Cross and Ryan terrorising the dog, whom they had bred from repeatedly. Cross was observed to punch her in the head a number of times, while Ryan was seen hitting her with a stick. .On other occasions witnesses heard slapping noises immediately followed by the sound of Luna yelping. On 14 December 2022 RSPCA Inspector Christine McNeil met Cross, Ryan and another man who said he was Luna's new owner. .In a statement to the court inspector McNeil described Luna as being "in reasonable bodily condition although when she was stroked, she would put her back end down to the ground when her back was stroked.” She added: “She seemed quite nervous to be touched although would approach people including Mr Cross and Ms Ryan.” .Luna was examined by a vet with inspector McNeil stating: “I noted that Luna seemed more uncomfortable in a confined room and when people entered she would put her head down and have wide eyes and if people approached she would put her head down and lower her body like she was going to try and run away. “I also noted that if I tried to encourage her to come towards me, she wouldn’t and would put her head down and have big eyes and she looked scared and nervous.” Following the case, inspector McNeil said: “Unfortunately Luna sustained this physical and emotional abuse on several occasions which is just completely unacceptable." 🔹Sentencing | 18 month community order whereby Cross must carry out 225 hours of unpaid work and Ryan 180 hours; £250 costs each. Disqualified from keeping all animals for just five years. Luna has been re homed. Humbug has been waiting for home for 9 years!! Humbug was born on site in 2014, rehomed but returned to us. He is a complex little soul with his own insecurities and phobias and therefore we are looking for a patient owner who is willing to create a supportive environment and continue his training programme. Humbug can be a little unsure of meeting new people initially but, with a slow and steady introduction, you will quickly have a new best friend – be prepared for some serious cuddles and smooches! Humbug insists! Likewise, he can be a little unsure of new/passing dogs out on a walk, which can cause him to react sometimes on the lead. However, all of the above issues we have been working on continuously with our on-site behaviourist and Humbug has made huge progress. Similarly, Humbug has been lucky enough to have had an amazing (weekend) foster home for the last few years which has done wonders for his confidence and behaviour.
