🎥 In Senate primaries across the country, Democratic Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, the DSCC and the rest of the Democratic establishment have consistently either formally endorsed or signaled support for candidates whose campaigns are focused on tinkering around the edges of the status quo rather than enacting bold populist change.
Democratic voters, on the other hand, have turned out in droves to support candidates from the Bernie Sanders wing of the party, like Graham Platner and Abdul El-Sayed, who are surging in the polls and talking about sweeping economic reform.
Drop Site’s Julian Andreone went to the U.S. Senate to ask Democratic senators if they think party leadership is out of touch with the base. Hear what they had to say:

@MitchHorowitz No no no no. Insane. I am shredded by this for so many reasons. My mouth has been agape for like five minutes (just saw Caitlin Coppock write about it)... My God, at least he's got a good sense of the territory --- and lived LIFE ENTIRELY. The brother lived every minute.😱

Trump attacked me this weekend for talking about job losses & higher prices on Fox News.
Now, he says he doesn’t think about Americans’ financial situation.
Is it too much to ask an American President to care about Toledo more than Tehran?

Kamala Harris's California non-endorsement is another in a long series of choices by the former VP that demonstrate that she doesn't have the leadership qualities required to be president. The question is whether Democratic voters realize this. theamericansaga.com/p/kamala-harri…

@SarahLongwell25 @BulwarkOnline In response to @LeverNews' interview w/@grahamformaine about @TuckerCarlson saying he'd like to have him on -- OF COURSE HE SHOULD GO ON!! That is a no-brainer, however understandable his initial hesitation might be, Platner will reach all kinds of people he needs to reach.

We did a focus group with Maine Democrats and have a special edition of the Focus Group Pod @BulwarkOnline.
Do voters care about Platner's baggage? Not too much. Will Collins finally fall? Never count her out, but my money is on Platner. youtube.com/watch?v=KIwZBN…

This essay undervalues our agency. Let me explain. After the printing press, pamphlets with shock value spread rumors, dehumanized opponents, and caused years of war.
After Europe faced devastation, Enlightenment thinkers and practitioners developed newspapers and journalism, and they institutionalized the value of political tolerance for political dialogue. This helped make the printing press a tool for deliberation as opposed to an obstacle to it.
In our social media age, the problem is not the technology itself but the absence of liberal democratic values in the design of platforms. That trolling and sensationalism drown out reasonable exchange suggests a failure of imagination and ethics in how to build communication spheres in a digital age.
There is nothing inevitable or predestined about the end of rational discourse. What matters is whether we can build digital forums that are not only more inclusive than traditional ones, but value understanding and dialogue over attention-grabbing clickbait. This is not the first time humanity has had such a challenge, and history will judge us for how well we met it in our time.

Tucker Carlson told the NYT that U.S. political leaders are normalizing mass civilian killing, warning that dismissing deaths is “the language of genocide” that “results in genocide itself” and “has.”
He contrasted figures like Nick Fuentes with elected officials who wield real power, arguing U.S. policies are enabling the killing of innocent people right now, while the public is being pushed to ignore it.
While he did not name Gaza, Carlson has in recent months repeatedly criticized the U.S.-backed Israeli genocide in the Palestinian territory.

Utility companies are a monopoly.
You don’t have a choice which one to buy from – so the prices are supposed to be regulated.
But now these monopolies are jacking up prices to rake in huge corporate profits— sometimes it’s 25% of your electric bill! That’s way higher than a normal business.
I have a bill to stop it.

KHANNA: Do you know how much it will cost Americans in terms of the increased cost of gas and food because of the Iran war?
HEGSETH: You're playing gotcha about domestic things

Today's Supreme Court decision is a direct assault on the promise of the Voting Rights Act. It risks disenfranchising millions of Americans along racial lines and weakening the very foundation of our democracy.
Democracy is not self-sustaining. We must build, preserve, and defend it together.
Here in New York City, we will always lead a government of, by, and for the people — all of the people.

Russ Vought is changing federal worker performance reviews to limit who can get the best ratings. Then he wants to base layoffs on those reviews, while exempting political appointees from the process. The result: more MAGA embeds in government.
