Last week a cop-killer avoided a murder charge in the fatal shooting of NYPD Det. Jonathan Diller. Yesterday an NYPD officer was sent to prison by a judge who wanted to deliver a “general deterrent” to the NYPD. The system is broken, and it’s protecting the wrong people.
