Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s bat swing has been outstanding. What’s even more remarkable is how beautifully he clears his front foot to create room for balls aimed at his legs. This freedom allows him to play the way he does. That innings was nothing short of spectacular!

In a multi religious society like India’s followers of different religions should live and let live. Conversions violate this basic principle. Hinduism doesn’t believe in conversion. India is a vastly majority Hindu country. This ethos of the country should define relations between followers of different faiths. Charity should be a social, humanitarian act, not one of religious doctrine or one with religious overtones. Why should charity be a mission? The history of conversions in India has been politically destructive. Other countries should not interfere in our internal affairs on behalf of any religious group. This only creates suspicion and mistrust.

Congratulations to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams on achieving 89.4% forest cover in Tirumala through sustained conservation measures aimed at protecting forest wealth and restoring native species in the Seshachalam Hills. Our traditions regard nature as sacred, and protecting forests and wildlife is a service to the divine. I appreciate these efforts, which will help preserve a greener and healthier Tirumala for future generations.

My op-ed in @timesofindia on the rupee: timesofindia.indiatimes.com/blogs/toi-edit… There is nothing automatic about foreign exchange running out. Only the RBI can deplete reserves. The policy question is whether to deplete reserves to support the rupee. I argue that there are ample grounds to let the rupee adjust to arrive at lower imports, higher exports, and to encourage capital inflows. Intervention in FX markets can wait another day.

There is so much recent negativity about @airindia that I want to put this out. I have taken 3 flights on @airindia in the last three days. On Wednesday:Rome to Del On Thursday: Del to Bom On Friday: Bom to Del In every single case the flight was on time. The inflight service was warm & efficient. Luggage came relatively quickly (quickest in Del) The check in was entirely painless I don’t think frequent travellers care as much as others about airline food but if you think that’s important then I had a very good dinner on Rome to Del. On the international sector I flew one of the older Dreamliners & I am not one of those aeroplane nerds but I thought it was very comfortable. It’s second nature for many of us to bitch about @airindia but it’s one of only two international airlines I fly regularly. The other is @emirates which admittedly is far better ( & far more expensive) but it is the best airline in the world so it’s better than every other carrier anyway. The Tatas need to hold their nerve. There is a lot that is good about @airindia that rarely gets acknowledged @TataCompanies

Today marks a big new chapter and a new door in India-UAE relations. The UAE stands with India, and India stands with the UAE against all evil. This is the nightmare of the Islamic regime in Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood terrorists. India’s military capabilities, technology, and strategic power matter more than ever. Together, the UAE and India are building strength, stability, innovation, and a future no extremists can stop.

The Ironman is widely regarded as one of the toughest endurance events in the world. It is a grueling single-day test of stamina and determination. Participants must complete a 3.8 km swim, a 180 km cycling ride, and a full 42.2 km marathon, all back to back. On 10 May, my son Nandil, currently in his fifth year at the National Law School of India University in Bengaluru, took on this extraordinary challenge at Ironman Vietnam. After just 7-8 months of preparation, he completed the challenge in approximately 16 hours. As a father, it fills me with immense pride to see his discipline, determination and perseverance. I wish him the very best for the journey ahead and for many more milestones in life.

Among southern states, some people often allege Hindi imposition. But what does the data say? Of the 92 LS constituencies in TN, KA & AP: 44 have Urdu as the second dominant language. And Hindi: none (!) Kerala is unique: where neither Urdu nor Hindi is a dominant second language. #KnowIndia

I fully empathise with Prime Minister @narendramodi's appeal to save foreign exchange in this time of crisis and uncertainty. One way to do this is to consume less. The other way is to produce more. PM's pain points are oil and gold, India's two biggest imports, more than 30% of the total. If you add other resources from below the ground, it becomes 50%. Given our geology and our existing assets, we can massively increase production quickly. It has happened in past. Two things are required: privatisation and self-certification in clearances. Overall, in the below-the-ground sector, there are 24 PSUs which can be privatised and will result in manifold increase in production. Completing the privatisation of companies like HZL (govt holds 26%) and BALCO (govt holds 49%) will also result in much more output and jobs. When Vedanta acquired HZL in 2002, India was import-dependent for zinc. Today, we are self-reliant. With exactly the same assets. We did R&D and started producing silver and lead, which no one had imagined. And now we are in the process of doing R&D to produce rare earths. In aluminium, output was 1 lakh tonne, and now we are in the process of producing 60 lakh tonnes. I am 100% confident that India can produce enough resources domestically with existing assets (new assets take longer) to mostly take away imports. Government should trust the private sector to entirely eliminate any vulnerability on account of imports of oil, gold, silver, copper, fertiliser, and many other resources. We will deliver for India.

The continued illegal detention of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das in Bangladesh for the past eighteen months is deeply concerning. How much longer will he be subjected to such persecution? Is speaking up against attacks on Hindu minorities considered a crime? Is questioning violence and injustice the mistake he committed? While those responsible for attacks on minorities, destruction of homes, and violence roam free, targeting a peaceful monk with vindictive intent exposes the alarming situation faced by Hindus and minorities in Bangladesh. Every humanitarian who believes in justice, democracy, and human rights must raise their voice against this injustice If such incident happened to any minority individual in India, the global community would have reacted strongly by now. Even after a change in regime in Bangladesh, the atrocities, persecution, and targeted attacks against Hindu minorities, continue unabated, which is deeply alarming and unacceptable. I urge the Government of Bangladesh and international human rights organisations to ensure the immediate release of Chinmoy Krishna Das Prabhu and safeguard the rights and dignity of minority communities - @PawanKalyan @trahmanbnp @bdhc_delhi @UNHumanRights @UN @ihcdhaka #FreeChinmoyKrishnaDas

Odisha plans to transform the 2,200-year-old Khandagiri & Udayagiri caves, dating back to the 2nd century BCE, into a world-class heritage tourism destination. (Media reports) A ₹100 crore proposal has been submitted for comprehensive development, including grand statues of Kalinga rulers including Mahameghavahana Kharavela. Plans include walking parks, musical fountains, modern lighting, ramps/lifts for elderly & differently-abled visitors, an open-air amphitheater with lecture center, and dedicated heritage pathways. To protect the heritage site, existing roads passing through the hills may be permanently closed. #Odisha
