@LassHull @RealBristolBoy @lewis_goodall All Governments do this. And some Leaders of the Opposition.
English

@SaintJordan5 @RealBristolBoy @lewis_goodall Yes, I have read the statement issued yesterday. And my point stands - the Labour Party are trying to take credit for action by the previous government.

@LassHull @RealBristolBoy @lewis_goodall They introduced the rules after their disastrous Brexit after having let in millions…..including legal and illegal. Have you bothered to look at the Home Office’s statement issued yesterday.
English

@RealBristolBoy @lewis_goodall @SaintJordan5 Yes, let's thank the previous Conservative government. After all, they introduced the rules now being applied.
And if you bother to look behind the figures, you will see that they are not all good news.

Britain is governed by a vindictive business bashing, job-destroying, tax-grabbing Labour government. telegraph.co.uk/business/2026/…

"If I felt that the prime minister was going to change... I would've been happy to stay doing the job that I loved." In his first broadcast interview since resigning as health secretary, Wes Streeting talks about *that* meeting with Prime Minister Keir Starmer

@DavidDavisMP But her strategy is just to be spiteful and insulting whilst being really useless.

I've just read an extraordinary piece by Lee Cain, former Director of Communications to Boris Johnson, in Conservative Home today.
Unfortunately, thinking in politics these days is based on the opinion polls of the day. We often forget that the only poll that matters is the one three years from now.
When Boris left office, he left a Conservative Party that nearly 70 per cent of the public thought was untrustworthy and a similar proportion felt was incompetent.
This is the mindset that Kemi now has to change. Condemning and attacking her strategy halfway through does nothing to help that.

@RobertJenrick You’re utterly shameless Honest Bob. How did you remain in any form of public office after Tower Hamlets?

@Steven_Swinford Appalling lack of process. Why is the article cosily calling him Andrew.

BREAKING
The late Queen pressed for Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to take on the role of trade envoy on behalf of the government, newly released documents show.
In February 2000 Sir David Wright, the chief executive of British Trade International, had a “wide ranging discussion” with the Queen’s private secretary about Andrew’s appointment.
At the time his career in the Royal Navy was coming to an end after 22 years
“The Queen’s wish is that the Duke of Kent should be succeeded in this role [as trade envoy] by the Duke of York,” Wright said. “The Duke of Kent is to relinquish his responsibilities around April next year. That would fit well with the end of the Duke of York’s active naval career.
“The Queen is very keen that the Duke of York should take on a prominent role in the promotion of national interests. No other member of the Royal Family would be available to succeed the Duke of Kent. The Duke of York’s adoption of this role would seem like a natural fit.”
Andrew became the UK’s special representative for international trade and investment in 2001 but stepped down 10 years later amid the furore over his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, the paedophile American financier
He received no salary for travelling around the world and at home promoting Britain’s business interests, but criticisms were made about the thousands of pounds spent each year on his expenses and travel costs
His decision to quit the role came in the same year he was pictured with his arm around his primary accuser, Virginia Giuffre, who said she was trafficked to the former duke at the home of convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell
Giuffre claimed she had sex with the former prince three times – at Maxwell’s home in London, at Epstein’s New York townhouse and on the disgraced financier’s Caribbean island, Little St James
The former Duke of York faces accusations of sharing sensitive information with paedophile Jeffrey Epstein while acting as a special representative for trade and investment between 2001 and 2011. He categorically denies the claims
The documents have been released after a Humble Address by the Liberal Democrats

@pictureladyjan @KateEMcCann We are not giving money to Putin. It’s in our national interest to be able to keep our aircraft and ships going. A pity we reduced our own refinery capabilities.
English

@SaintJordan5 @KateEMcCann That's like saying it's OK to buy stolen goods, because you didn't buy them from the thief himself.
It isn't in our national interest to give Putin breathing room and a chance to make more money for more bombs. If there are sanctions, bring them in now.

@RhonddaBryant @Patrici89225734 Well done. This should be really publicised. You might want to let Badenoch know this is how to do deals? Not that she’ll ever be in a position to attempt one again.

@peterkyle Get this in the media. This is where this Government has missed so many tricks - despite the very biased MSM. If this had been little Rishi there would have been wall to wall coverage.

This is historic for the UK and a major milestone in strengthening our trade, investment and long‑term economic partnership with Gulf nations.
Fantastic news for both businesses and consumers across Britain and the GCC.
