Uddannelse på 14 år i gennemsnit mod 16 år i USA. Der er til gengæld intet forsvar for deres støtte til Hamas. De gør det for at bekæmpe deres geopolitisk modstand, men derfor er det stadig dybt usympatisk. Bare husk at amerikanerne gør det samme. Værst var nok den amerikanske våbenstøtte og finansiering af radikale islamister i Syrien, der blev til Islamisk Stat. Amerikanerne gjorde det for at bekæmpe deres geopolitisk modstander. Essensen af konflikten er nemlig geopolitik. Shia-muslimerne er allieret med Rusland og Kina, mens Sunni-muslimerne er allieret med USA. Bemærk dog, at Rusland og Kina har styrket samarbejdet med Sunni-Muslimerne markant med I 2024. AOC didn't commit to stoping the flow of arms to Israel while Gaza was being annihilated. She is only committing to it now because she needs the DSA and grassroots support for her political survival and career.

@sharghzadeh @basedzade If Iran becomes a proper ”real” democracy, it will ultimately become a tool of the US-Israel-EU puppet. The countries in the middle east and africa need proper leaders to not lose their indenpendence, unfortunately. Just look at all the other countries, including Venezuela.

Whatever happens next, this speech confirmed to me that monarchists are cooked. After this war, the Islamic Republic will have a mandate to repress political opposition, and the monarchists will be unable to return to Iran in their lifetimes, in all likelihood.

On 10/7, Hamas launched 5,000 rockets at Israel, as well as mounted a ground invasion that initially totally overwhelmed the IDF. Israel has far greater air power capacity, including nukes. Defunding the Iron Dome would be utterly catastrophic for all civilians in the area.

Saying Israel can fund it themselves misses the point. Iron Dome is there to stop rockets from hitting civilians. You can argue about Netanyahu, aid conditions, or broader policy, but this is still a defensive system. Opposing it comes off less like a stand on principle and more like saying those civilians are somebody else’s problem.

The Israeli government is well able to fund the Iron Dome system, which has proven critical to keep innocent civilians safe from rocket attacks and bombardment. Consistent with my voting record to date, I will not support Congress sending more taxpayer dollars and military aid to a government that consistently ignores international law and U.S. law. Netanyahu’s allies in the Knesset just approved a $45 billion defense budget, and the Prime Minister himself also asserted his interest in withdrawing from the MOU with the United States in January. It is fully within their ability to fund Iron Dome and other defensive systems. Our allies who need our military aid must understand that we will provide it consistent with the Leahy amendment and the foreign assistance act.
