Sanders and AOC introduced a bill to pause ALL AI data center construction. 300+ local bills filed. Half of planned 2026 data centers facing delays or cancellation. Each one brings billions to local economies. The people who say they want American jobs are trying to block the biggest job creation engine since the interstate highway system.

@mattyglesias Battery paired with solar does generate and dispatch electricity on demand. VPP isn’t just a thermostat program.

“Limitless clean energy for everyone” is a brilliant inspiring vision that’s worth organizing around, but you can’t just adopt it as a slogan and then pivot to talking about demand flexibility and home retrofits — you need to try to deliver it! slowboring.com/p/the-case-for…

Nevada gave Vantage tax abatements to build a 224 MW data center that draws more power than all of Lake Tahoe. Now 49,000 Americans on the California side lose their power supplier so a subsidized AI campus can run. Taxpayers paid to displace ratepayers.

Below is what's actually happening in Lake Tahoe. Liberty Utilities delivers energy. It needs a new wholesale supplier. It has asked the CPUC for permission to conduct an RFP. The doc reveals Liberty has a peak load of 141 MW. Here's how that relates to data centers --

Walk a Florida neighborhood after a hurricane and you’ll see the real story. One house loses its roof and becomes a total loss. The house next door survives with minor damage. Same storm. Different resilience. Florida has gotten very good at recovery. But what if we focused more on reducing the damage before the storm hits? Two smart ideas for Special Session: • Eliminate sales tax on standing seam metal roofs • Eliminate sales tax on generators One prevents catastrophic losses. The other keeps families, businesses, and medical devices running when the grid fails. Incentives matter. If we want lower insurance costs and stronger communities, we should reward preparation…not just rebuilding. Florida doesn’t just need faster recovery. It needs less destruction.

Great to see @HouseCommerce @boblatta tackling ways to make energy cheaper and more abundant. These are things we at @abundanceinst care about deeply, which is why I was glad to sign @C3SolutionsNews "Consumer-First Framework for Transmission Reform." I am looking forward to seeing those ideas reflected in the hearing discussion today! c3solutions.org/policy-paper/a…

Anyone else noticing that a lot of consultant types are parroting the exact same arguments in favor of data centers? I’m not commenting on the validity of the points, it just feels obvious that some checks were cashed.

I’m disappointed and have told Renner the same that many of the surrogates in his camp are doing damage to his campaign. The reality is Renner & Collins have a larger overlap of audience then any of the other candidates. People don’t like seeing the fighting between them. I hear this on the ground every day.
