My PhD had delayed fellowships & limited resources, but it still gave me so much. I became the first person in my family- to earn a PhD, to fly internationally, to live abroad, and the first woman to have a job. Look up sometimes; a PhD can give you a whole new sky to fly in.

When it comes to women in science, senior male colleagues often mask their love for a 'damsel in distress' story as 'mentorship'. They feel like 'saviours' on a 'rescue mission', only till a woman colleague displays confidence, capability, and charge. The litmus test of their approach is not when a woman in science needs help, it is when she does not.🧪

The landscape of what is a 'good job' or a 'fulfilling career' is changing so fast! 🧪Use your phone for IG and Snapchat 😜, but also X and Linkedin! Leverage the power of digital networking to advance your career, connect with colleagues, seek collaborations. 🧪At each stage (starting now - and it is never too early to start), find ways to give back - to your family, village, town, city, country and the world. Don't forget where you started out from! As I love to say, the future of India is in her classrooms! 👩‍🏫🇮🇳
