£26436.80 is the new min wage annual salary (40 hrs p/wk). And as the min wage rises, regular salaries don't. So many people will begin to ask themselves 'why am I working this highly stressful job that needed qualifications and a tonne of bullshit paperwork and police checks just to earn 5k more a year than I would stacking shelves at Lidl?'

This is so sad - hospitality would normally support 38% of first jobs providing entry level routes to work, developing transferable and social skills but these roles are literally being priced out due to ever increasing tax and regulation

My Saturday job when I was a teenager paid minimum wage, ~£3.50/hr. If that had risen in line with inflation it would be ~£5.60 today. Minimum wage for teenagers is £8/hr from next week. Cash-strapped businesses can’t take many on for that cost!
