The number of seats cannot be tied to a constantly changing economic metric like GDP. By that logic, would a richer state’s vote carry more value than a poorer one? The total number of seats is increased from 543 to 850. This is not a 50% increase, but a 56.54% increase. If we increase Tamil Nadu's 39 seats by 56.54%, we must get 61 seats. Not 59 seats as most calculations show.
