@arvalis @HardDriveMag Hi. This is me. I definitely say that with irony, it’s just an ongoing joke on a podcast. But FF1 is in my favorites. I frequently talk about how games are bad at telling stories compared to, say, books, but when they do it right (Portal) it’s as -or more- effective.

@HardDriveMag There is an IGN guy that seemingly without irony has repeatedly claimed FF1 is the best rpg of all time. Interesting character, also says stories shouldnt be in games.

People have asked me why I never gave the original Metroid Prime a 9.8 / 10 @IGN. 10s (console/PC) were much rarer back then; scrutiny on being groundbreaking; near-perfect framerates & cameras; etc. So why? My review said: "I felt comfortable (even in awe) 90% of the time, but there are a few boss fights where it can frustrate. It's extremely rare..." My feedback has always been: stop obsessing over 10s. Read/listen/watch reviews. Games above 9.0 should deserve a ton of attention regardless.

I love this game. Give it a try! My top picks to play are in this review but beyond the games there’s just a ton to nerd out over, docs, artifacts. It’s remarkable, my fav way to play old games that’s not just a restored arcade.

@supr_pixl @DaemZero The arcade is in Haight-Ashbury, it’s called Free Gold Watch. Lots to do in that area, it’s on the edge of Golden Gate Park which is fun, too.
