UNDP’s Flood Recovery Programme (FRP) is supporting recovery across Pakistan. In Balochistan, communities are rebuilding lives and strengthening resilience after the 2022 floods. In partnership with @dpr_gob, #UNDPinPakistan is advancing recovery through: 🇨🇳 With China, over 25,000 people have restored livelihoods in Jaffarabad and Kachhi — with support set to reach 18,000 more. 🇩🇪 With @KfW_Islamabad, 700 climate-resilient homes in Hanna Urak, Quetta are benefiting around 20,000 people. This week’s mission to Quetta reaffirmed our strong partnership and shared commitment to #BuildForwardBetter.

As climate-induced disasters continue to challenge vulnerable communities across Pakistan, strengthening resilience remains essential. With support from the Government of Germany through @KfW_Islamabad 🇩🇪, and in partnership with Ministry of @PlanComPakistan and @dpr_gob, #UNDPinPakistan is supporting the reconstruction of 700 climate-resilient homes for families affected by the 2022 floods. A joint UNDP and MoPDSI mission led by Muhammad Bashir Khetran, Additional Secretary (Dev/HRM/DG, Recovery & Reconstruction Unit), visited the Hanna–Urak site in Quetta to review progress and engage with communities benefiting from the intervention. With support from @GermanyinPAK, #UNDPinPakistan convened a conference in Gwadar on climate-related human security risks and access to environmental justice. The event brought together experts, practitioners, and district officials to share research on environmental challenges in coastal Balochistan and discuss community grievances and policy responses. The office of @DcGwadar also highlighted ongoing government initiatives and avenues for grievance redressal, contributing to a more informed dialogue on the link between environmental justice and stabilization in Balochistan.

Our global reach matters. But what gives it meaning is the expertise behind it. With a presence in 38 countries and territories in Asia-Pacific, @UNDP teams bring experience shaped by realities on the ground. Grateful for the chance to learn from colleagues across the region.

A crisis should not interrupt a girl’s right to learn. Limited access to safe hygiene facilities and essential supplies keeps many girls out of school, especially in the aftermath of disasters such as the 2022 floods. With support from @CanHCPakistan 🇨🇦 and in partnership with @SindhGovt1, #UNDPinPakistan has reached 10,000 girls across three districts of Sindh through Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) awareness sessions, MHM kits, and improved girl-friendly school sanitation — driving behaviour change as part of its flood recovery efforts. Communities in Buner faced devastating floods that washed away homes, livelihoods, and a sense of security. Yet, in the face of uncertainty, they are rebuilding stronger, more determined, and more united than before. Through UNDP’s support, 400 fuel efficient stoves, 2,130 agriculture toolkits and solarized health facilities are driving recovery and building resilience. What was lost is being restored with strength, dignity and hope.

Development works. For me, this morning was about listening. With @UNDP's Asia-Pacific team, I heard how development shapes daily life across very different contexts - and why that matters for stability and security.

What always stands out to me about Japan is how it thinks about the future. Long-term. With purpose. Through partnership. From innovation to impact, I saw this mindset in action in my visit to Tokyo. @UNDP is proud to partner with Japan to change lives across the world.
