Searching under the name he's known under in the U.S. generates media results from our media. Searching under the names associated with his parents, particularly his father, generates results from media in India. Vivek's full name is "Vivek Ganapathy Ramaswamy." His father's name is Vadakanchery Ganapathy Ramaswamy." "Vadakkancherry" is his father's ancestral village. Ganapathy is the name of a Hindu deity that connects his father to the "agragraham" or temple. Ganapathy or Ganesha is the Hindu god for wisdom. Hindus worship 33 "crore" gods. A crore, numerically, is 10 million but it also describes 33 "categories" of gods. 17 Hindu gods are transgendered. I placed the following coordinates in a Google Earth search, and it led me to Vadakkancherry. 10°35'25.9"N 76°29'00.2"E. They always think of bringing "back home" ideas to the U.S, and that's what President George Washington warned against about Europeans in his farewell address. We have no idea of the full political landscape Ramaswamy's views of Indian justice, education or taxing are coming from when he offers his "ideas." Under Communist controlled Kerala, the government levies property taxes, but in different ways. Ramaswamy's family village is governed by the Vadakkencherry Gram Panchayat: a council from our perspective. Every village council decides its own amount of taxes to charge under a "plinth" system. They calculate property taxes based on the built‑up floor area of a building rather than the market value of the land and the sale of surrounding properties like in Ohio.
