This is deeply disturbing. A Sikh woman targeted in her own home and subjected to horrific violence.
Anti-Sikh hate is real and rising, and too often it goes unrecognised.
My thoughts are with the victim. We must stand united against all forms of hate and violence.

Research shows Ramadan spending boosts the economy by £1.3bn, on top of an annual contribution of £70bn.
I'm sure you want to celebrate - but spend too much, grow the economy a little too fast, and it might be seen as "dominating"

Too many are too afraid to CALL THIS OUT.
Hanukkah, Diwali, Vaisakhi, celebrations of all major faiths take place in Trafalgar Square but British Muslims taking part in an open Iftar, are exceptionalised.
From a sitting Member of Parliament - this is beyond awful.
Where are we heading?

Too many are too polite to say this. But mass ritual prayer in public places is an act of domination. The adhan - which declares there is no god but allah and Muhammad is his messenger - is, when called in a public place, a declaration of domination. Perform these rituals in mosques if you wish. But they are not welcome in our public places and shared institutions. And given their explicit repudiation of Christianity they certainly do not belong in our churches and cathedrals. I am not suggesting everybody at Trafalgar Square last night is an Islamist. But the domination of public places is straight from the Islamist playbook. Trafalgar Square belongs to all of us. It is a national memorial to our independence and our salvation. Last night was not like a televised football match or a St Patrick’s Day celebration. It was an act of domination and therefore division. It shouldn’t happen again.

Road closure update for Rotton Park.
Residents have been asking for pothole repairs for some time. I have been working with local councillors Marcus and Sharon, and pleased this work is finally happening.
From 12pm on 8 March, road will be closed until Wednesday 11 March 6pm.

Today, your @BrumLabour Council has agreed a budget that will deliver a huge funding boost for the city, putting more money into frontline services for residents and providing a further £130m on top of that to clean up our streets, invest in our libraries, and tackle knife crime.
