The incredible part about this meme, especially as applied to Favreau and the others defending Platner’s “decency,” is that the symbol on the cap is quite literally Platner’s tattoo. It’s almost enough to make me wonder if we are living in a simulation.

I wish I could, but the way he’s leaned into conspiracy theory and antisemitism is so oppositional to liberty that I can’t support him anymore. He could have simply ignored the campaigns against him and stayed on message. Instead, he embraced the worst people on earth to survive. You can die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain, I guess.

The problem with any argument about “capitalism” is that the term was basically popularized by Marx. The kind of capitalism promoted by conservatives and libertarians is laissez-faire free market competition and property rights, which is precisely the opposite of the Nazi project.

I'm not an "own the libs" guy -- in fact, I am the polar opposite of such people and I especially hate that genre of social media -- but very few things make left wingers madder than pointing out, correctly, that Nazism was a virulently anti-capitalist, pro-socialist movement.
