We already knew the cap was going up, and a bunch of that money coming off The books is offset by Harley’s raise and Jamie Benny’s bonuses that result in an overage penalty. They’ll have $13M in cap space without signing Bunting, Benn, or Bourque. They’ll need to sign 4 forwards at the least with that $13M, so something has to give.

Finally, the last four teams. I think these teams could legitamately justify making a run for stealing Robo from the Dallas Stars. Anaheim Ducks- I doubt they will. Verbeek has a reputation for pinching EVERY penny, and you aren't signing someone to an offer sheet with that mindset. But with BIG money coming off the books and an ascending young core, it could be the time to get aggressive. They probably need to focus on the d core first though. Chicago Blackhawks- Arguably the best prospect pool in the league. More importantly though, MAN do they need to get a high end guy to play with Bedard. At some point it becomes about quality instead of quantity. Go get the guy that you are hoping one of those picks turns into anyway. San Jose Sharks- Again, arguably the best prospect pool in the league. Sure, defense is probably a bigger concern, but like the Blackhawks, this would help make the next step and the timeline fits with Robertsons age. Utah Mammoth- The money would get tight, but with a young core locked up and only improving, this would be a big splash for the new market.
