Ottoman officials forcibly collected young boys from the empire’s Christian subjects as a form of taxation. They were then taken back to Istanbul, forcibly converted to Islam, and trained to be the sultan’s military slaves, the Janisseries. Ottomans launched slaving raids into Slavic lands, taking 3-5.5 million Christians as slaves, and the Barbary Corsairs captured over 1 million Christians as slaves in Western and Southern Europe. Weasel move to say that churches weren’t taxed when all Christians had to pay a heavy Jizya tax, and no new churches were allowed to be constructed, and Christians had no legal rights in courts against Muslims who wronged them.
Clash Report@clashreport

Theologian JD Hall to Tucker Carlson: The Muslim rulers didn't tax churches during the Ottoman period. They were very kind to Christians. As a matter of fact, they took care of our holy sites. Islamic authorities rebuilt the Church of the Holy Sepulchre three different times over the centuries. They had a law protecting Christian pilgrims on their journey. Nobody messed with the pilgrims.

In LOTR, the shire spent so long sheltered from evil that it began to think evil did not exist. The west is like the shire. We must save the shire.

This is so devastating. Imagine being a black parent tonight. How do you protect your children? If they go out and stab just one person, they might go to prison. It’s like a black man in America can’t even murder anyone anymore. Unimaginable. Jim Crow all over again. I’m furious.

Pretty much all of the prominent voices who supported the Iran War assured us it would be over by now. None of them will admit they were wrong. Even less will they admit that their initial assurances were based on nothing but their own wishcasting. This whole shitshow has been an enormous waste of time and resources and our country has not benefited from it at all. Its advocates have moved the goal posts repeatedly and have even to this day refused to clearly articulate what constitutes a victory and how we’ll know that it’s been achieved.

I think we need to build this. I designed this below image, representing Lewis and Clark on the Mississippi in the style of Argonath. At $1 Billion or more, I think it can be done.

Bishop Barron is a wonderful and intelligent evangelist and has helped bring me to the Faith. But his entire critical thinking ability shuts down the second he starts talking about politics. He goes full boomer and worships the postwar/civil rights consensus.
Chris Menahan 🇺🇸@infolibnews

Bishop Barron: "The great civil rights movement of the 50s and 60s, didn't just have religious people in it—it was led by religious people…" Dave Rubin: "Most of the white people—white quote unquote people—that [Martin Luther] King was marching with were Jews, actually."

Living in Northern VA will kind of warp your reality ( in a good way). You get used to everyone having at least a masters degree, a tesla, making 6 figs, working in STEM for some big company. The second I moved outside the DMV I realized how rare that was.

Never underestimate the white boomers desire to go back to polite national decline where the shitlibs are calm, they cash out on their homes and their descendants lose everything…they never had the stomach to do what’s necessary and they never will.

No, this is ahistorical nonsense When John Jay described America he talked about a people with a shared religion and heritage The Constitution tells us who America is for, ourselves and our posterity, not anyone who believes in the rule of law People in Singapore believe in the rule of law, they aren’t American Thomas Jefferson wrote many of the words you are claiming to revere but he wouldn’t be American by your OWN definition because he didn’t believe in a color blind meritocracy This is the problem with credal nationalism, no one actually means it They want to claim the honor and tradition of the Founding Fathers but the creed Vivek is espousing is a collection of Fox News talking points entirely unconnected to the founding American citizenship belongs the the American people, not just anyone who regurgitates talking points off a notecard
Vivek Ramaswamy@VivekGRamaswamy

American identity isn’t a scalar quality that varies based on your ancestry. It’s binary: either you’re an American, or you’re not. You are an American if you believe in the rule of law, in freedom of conscience & freedom of expression, in colorblind meritocracy, in the U.S. Constitution, in the American dream, and if you are a citizen who swears exclusive allegiance to our nation. That’s the truth & it’s why I wrote this piece.

We should return to the “Cavalier Christmas.” Christmas in America was largely a Southern Holiday rooted in the old English traditions. Christmas in the South was not not one day it was a season, Christmastide, from Dec 25 through Twelfth Night (Epiphany) on Jan 6. It consisted of parties, fox hunts, cards, dancing, drinking. Children weren’t the focus, and gifts for kids were minimal. The older English custom of picking a mock “Lord of Misrule,” was also common especially in Virginia, where people would indulge in noisy visiting, costumes, and turning normal social order upside down for a night, similar to Mardi Gras. We’re bringing it back.

@michaeljknowles HOA boards are run by the longhouse. Busy body soccer moms and gossip girls on power trips, more interested in the lives of everyone else around them because their own lives are too disordered to contend with. I can respect HOA’s in principal, but not in practice.

Here me out— maybe blaming women for everything is not a winning strategy. It's wild to sit here and watch this, an emotionally charged argument, blaming the 19th amendment and women's right to vote for all the nation's ills. Dale rightly says women crave security yet goes on to blame evil men for exploiting this. Dale, why aren't you giving the women the security they crave so much? Could it be because you actually hold contempt for them in your heart? Sorry... I'm just so over people who blame everyone else for problems that they have the ability to solve themselves. It's abdicating responsibility for your own failings. Own the problem Dale. It's not the 19th amendment... it's that ↕️✌🏻christian✌🏻↕️ men have been awful at leading. The desire to control (under the guise of "biblical" patriarchy) is actually what has pushed most women into feminism. As they say, you attract more flies with honey than vinegar. Rather than doing attractive things, you blame others, which is sour like vinegar and repels people. 🤦🏻‍♂️ x.com/dalepartridge/…

In recent years, many young people have approached the faith through social media, successful programs and popular online Christian witnesses. The danger is that a faith discovered online is limited to individual experiences, which may be intellectually and emotionally reassuring, but never “embodied.” Such experiences remain “disembodied,” detached from the “ecclesial body.”
