If one million people say a stupid thing, it is still a stupid thing.

@RichesToRags18 Can’t do much these days, banning deadset everything that everyday Aussies enjoy. Add to that, schooners are $11. May as-well ban them while he’s at it!

Ian Holland will captain Leicestershire CCC for the opening block of the 2026 @CountyChamp ©️ After impressing in the role at the back end of last season, Holland steps up once again to take the Foxes into their return to Division 1.

@JustinGraham23 @LoughryTimothy @malcolmconn Exactly - in a country that only provides 66 playing opportunities per round, our young players need to take whatever spot they can and back themselves in. Well done SACA and the VICS on terrific seasons and a brilliant final

@malcolmconn Isn’t that just fantastic that SA have been able to give cricketers an opportunity to play first class cricket where their home states deemed them at the time not good enough or unable to find them a spot .. Love it

Not the ideal time to mention this given SA’s historic triumph but only 1 SA player, Carey, was born in SA. Jake Lehmann was born in Melbourne when Dad Darren was playing for Vic… Carey, Lehmann and Liam Scott the only locals, but Scott born in NSW… cricket.com.au/news/4478535

@rohan_connolly The game could start at 4.00 without affecting the day at all. The ground should be in full shade for the 1st bounce

Terrific performance from 16-year-old Sam Field for @melbcc in the Third XI GF. The young fella from Flinders hit 68 from No.8, then collected 4-77 off 22 overs. His 38-year-old captain, leggie Kyle Williamson, took 4-82 off 29.

@Thomo_Grant My 2 cents worth The AFL Grand final should start the minute the whole ground is in shade. I am guessing around 4.00. The first half is hard to watch on TV with the ground being half sunlight and half shade. I imagine it is the same for the crowd at the game.

AFL Fans Association surveyed 5,500 fans. 82% voted Day GF 13% Twilight 5% Night Surveys each year by SEN, 3AW, The Herald Sun and The Age all result in over 75% in favour of a day GF. So how can everyone be so wrong and the AFL report that only 33% are in favour of a day game, 33% twilight and 33% night Grand Final? Where is their data or evidence? How many were surveyed?

The AFL has increased its quarter breaks at all games from 6min to 6 1/2 mins. Previously only certain games (Thu, Fri and finals) had the 6 1/2 minute break at quarter-time and three-quarter time. More time for ad revenue perhaps, but for those that care about these things, standardised breaks from now on. Curiously, this is while the AFL prioritise shortening total match times. bit.ly/4lDD7B7

I was a fan of the bounce, but gee it’s nice watching a ball-up knowing it’s not going to be recalled

@adriansal80 @Sammy__Edmund Never gone to the footy to watch ball ups or boundary throw ins. The new rules will be terrific for the game

Random thought. Won't miss the umpires bouncing the ball. Good move. But is it just me, or are the officials throwing the ball up high enough? They seem shallow.

Two notable milestones coming up in @vicpremcricket. Ringwood's Jackson Freeman is due to play his 200th match and Prahran's John Scholes Medal winner Damon Egan is set for his 150th. Two fine cricketers right there.
