Apple is seriously lacking in two business super powers. 1. Bold Acquisitions: Apple doesn't seem to know how to do a big bold acquisition. It had the chance to buy Tesla, and didn't even take the meeting. Despite sitting on $162B of cash, it mostly does $100M-$500M acquisitions to acquire bits of tech that sit behind the scenes. Contrast that with Meta boldly buying Instagram and WhatsApp in deals that seemed insane at the time but now these flagship products eclipse their original platform. 2. Bold Innovation: we no longer wait around for Apple to announce what it's latest creation is, we know what the products are and we know they will get a little bit better each year. VisionPro is a luxury version of Meta Quest. Their Apple car division shut down without getting close to a car. Siri has been left in the dust. The Apple office applications don't have built in AI. Apple innovations are mostly just accessories for the phone. The speakers, the headphones and the AirTags are cute but they're not bold. Apple will probably bring out an Oura Ring copy soon - if they can be bothered. Originally Steve had a vision that Apple was there to be a "bicycle for the mind". Apple existed to make people more creative. Now Apple exists to make people more locked into their ecosystem.

@OxonTravel what a shambles closing A34 north. Sat in traffic for 20 mins up Botley road at 11pm as 7 or 8 big trucks forced to turn back at Oxford Station bridge. Put up some signs for HGV drivers next time??
