Bro that goes against the laws of thermodynamics Even if basal is low, a deficit is a deficit and that results in fat lost. And even in the most extreme cases KSR2 suppression lowest BMR by 10 percent with most cases being around 3 percent. So in the most insane and extreme cases it lowers your metabolic rate to the equivalent of a slice of bread or a cookie. So even if you are in the most extreme bucket eat the equivalent of one less cookie a day.

Yes, a well-documented example is mutations in the KSR2 (Kinase Suppressor of Ras 2) gene, which cause severe early-onset obesity through both increased appetite (hyperphagia) and a measurably reduced basal metabolic rate (BMR). This directly impairs energy expenditure, making weight loss extremely difficult even when caloric intake is restricted and exercise is implemented, because the body simply burns fewer calories at rest.636 This was established in a key 2013 study (Pearce et al., published in Cell) led by researchers at the University of Cambridge (including Professor Sadaf Farooqi). They sequenced DNA from over 2,000 individuals with severe obesity and identified rare loss-of-function mutations in KSR2 in multiple patients (a cohort of ~45 carriers across studies).3638 Key findings from the patients (including measured physiology in adults and children with the mutations vs. obese or normal-weight controls without the variant): •Hyperphagia in childhood: Patients showed an increased drive to eat (higher ad libitum energy intake when tested). •Reduced basal metabolic rate: Adults with KSR2 mutations had significantly lower measured BMR (adjusted for fat-free mass) via indirect calorimetry compared to predicted values or controls. They also had lower heart rates and impaired cellular oxidation of glucose and fatty acids.36 •Overall effect: As summarized by the researchers, “Patients who had the mutations in KSR2 had an increased drive to eat in childhood, but also a reduced metabolic rate, indicating that they have a reduced ability to use up all the energy that they consume.” This was the first clear evidence that a gene defect can lower human metabolic rate (independent of thyroid issues, which were ruled out).35 •Clinical presentation: Severe obesity from early childhood, often with insulin resistance. Standard lifestyle efforts (calorie control + activity) are challenged because the genetic defect lowers energy expenditure by impairing how cells process fuel—equivalent to needing a larger caloric deficit just to break even. Mouse models with KSR2 deletion replicated the obesity via similar metabolic defects. One illustrative patient example referenced in related reporting on the KSR2 cohort involved a female who remained above the 99th percentile for BMI from early childhood despite dietary interventions and an active lifestyle; diagnosis came later (around age 14), and while some medications (e.g., metformin) provided limited benefit, the underlying low metabolic efficiency persisted.44 This fits your criteria precisely: the anomaly isn’t just behavioral (hunger); it physiologically reduces calorie burn, so even enforced caloric deficits and exercise yield slower or harder-to-sustain results compared to people without the mutation. KSR2 is rare but provides proof-of-principle for how genetics can create “thrifty” metabolism. (Note: MC4R mutations or Prader-Willi syndrome are more common related examples with hyperphagia and some maintenance challenges after initial loss, but KSR2 uniquely highlights the low-BMR mechanism.) The full study is available via PubMed (PMID 24209692). Genetic testing for such variants is increasingly available in clinical settings for severe early-onset obesity unresponsive to standard approaches. If this matches a personal situation, consulting a specialist in medical genetics or endocrinology (e.g., via programs focused on monogenic obesity) is recommended for personalized evaluation. Here you go retard !

My best friend is 36 years old. His wife is pretty, but she’s big. Like, really big. He’s being patient with her because she’s dieting and exercising, but she’s only lost a couple lbs in 6 months despite being in a “calorie deficit”. How do I explain to him that it’s impossible to stay fat on a calorie deficit, and that she’s obviously lying to him?

Well if that’s the case then we shouldn’t force the fee to be higher artificially, we should focus on making sure the fee market logic is good and scalable. Don’t wanna be doing hard forks every other month, that would tank confidence in the project. Sometimes I feel Kaspa was released prematurely. Like hatch all the issues and launch with the minimum number of hard forks possible. Huge contention point from the BTC maxi crowd too.

The security budget for $KAS is something that is always a concern for people. How would you feel if it was proposed to increase the base fee to lets say 1 cent per transaction? At current prices that is about 0.32 Kaspa per transaction.

Well I think that’s the right? From what I understand lower network difficulty means lower security which if it down spirals it means Kaspa is done for. Unless I’m missing something, seems like hardcore OG miners that are willing to mine at a lost eventually will not be enough to keep the engine running. That’s why is important to keep them somewhat healthy until organic growth and demand can catch up and cover the expenses. Of course this will need to be done without compromising Kaspa’s core fundamentals otherwise then it loses its whole appeal. I am not a huge expert on this topic so I don’t know how close or far are we to that inflection point where the survivalbility of the project is threatened.

When the price of rents go up then the price of the homes goes up. Investors buy these houses to rent them because they want to turn a profit. If there are more people then there’s more demand on the rental places, with more demand there’s higher prices. With higher prices the homes cash flow more therefore they can be sold for more to investors. This is how higher demand in the rental market translates to higher prices in the homes

Michael is there someplace where the community can find updates on the development of the project. A roadmap of some sort, or is the best way to keep up to date to just follow twitter for when you guys post something ? I know there are multiple Parties developing on kaspa but I’m primarily concerned with the core developer progress as I think these have the biggest impact.

When I was growing up in Venezuela (Maracaibo), there was an oil pump jack on my dad’s farm. The first time I saw it, I asked my dad, “Are we rich?!” (I assumed the oil belonged to the landowner, like in the U.S.) My dad explained that the government owns all of Venezuela’s oil. This war with Venezuela has nothing to do with fentanyl and everything to do with the fact that Venezuela has more petroleum than any other nation on the planet. If the current regime is removed, U.S. oil companies will make a fortune. Just like the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were sold to the American public as “wars to save people” but were really about securing resources for certain industries, the same is happening with Venezuela. Yes, Venezuelans want regime change, but what they’ll get is the American empire—going from one shitty tyrant to another. A tale as old as time. As someone who grew up in Venezuela and has many Venezuelan friends, I would love nothing more than to see her free. This isn’t freedom; this is American imperialism.

Maduro offered the access to the oil feels and the gold deposits and this administration refused it. So your argument doesn’t hold up very well. Here’s the real reason They want to bring Venezuelan oil fields to full production. This new oil would hit the market and compete with Russian oil fully collapsing the Russian economy. It’s like a win win from every angle, quite brilliant tactically speaking.

@PugIsmay Because when Chavez expropriated the oil company’s infrastructure they lost a shit ton of money. Now the U.S. Military will secure it for them and they won’t have to pay Venezuela for it. Why pay for something you can get for free?

Forget it how? If they bail the lenders, then tax payers get fucked. The lenders just can keep on abusing everyone. The only reasonable thing to do is let those greedy fucking lenders go under. Fuck them for their predatory lending. Also fine the schools and take away government funds, schools are so deep in the scam offering 300k dollar degrees for photography and liberal arts degrees. The kids of course are fed the lie that they should pursue their passion and getting 300k into debt for a good liberal arts degree is worth the investment. They then hit the labor force and realize that that degree is worst than garbage and to top it off they have astronomical debt to repay. In other words they got scammed.

The burden is completely on us (the $KAS community) to disperse the knowledge then, and this is tiring. Even with all of us involved there is still a difficulty in sharing knowledge because there is just as much bad content diluting the good content. Conversely, if the “main” account was more focused and poignant in its approach, my bet is that it would change the tone of the Kaspa community for the better—I don’t think the bad content is the fault of the community, just that they haven’t come across the good info to share and don’t have the language or meaningful points at their disposal. Currently, it’s very fragmented and turning into cringe/xrp vibes almost every post in my feed, completely ineffective and even annoying at times, beginning to become something I don’t want to associate with. This is not at all doing the Kaspa fundamentals any service. And the fundamentals don’t matter so much if the majority of the community is engaging in cringe rhetoric or shitting on everyone they interact with, claiming KAS is better while having no strong points to back their claim. It pushes out people who are genuinely trying hard to do good and carrying themselves well. Thus, the main account being focused in its content would be beneficial at this point because the community has degraded over the last year, from what I can tell and clearly the fundamentals are not being communicated well to the community anymore. The main account stooping to the level of an average person on X is damaging to the project, in my opinion. @hashdag @michaelsuttonil @coderofstuff_
Victor Resto@KaspaSilver

@skibumtrading If info isn’t dispersed well then having one account revert back to spewing this info still doesn’t fix that. We simply need to attract people who will care to educate. Or even you can be apart of it. There is nothing we can do if someone doesn’t care to be an informative account
