Who will be crushing HRs today? Judge, Stanton, Bellinger or Rice? Maybe Grisham?

@CBSScottWhite Not ideal, but if he's sitting on a Sal Stewart break through with a better stud for the UTL slot in a short line up format 10 teamer, I can see it. The .290, 20 bombs is nice but Naylor was being drafted 50 slots to soon anyway. Not exactly a 10 year winners league I'm sure.

I would say that the odds of something being wrong with Josh Naylor are less than the odds of something being wrong with your league.

@CBSScottWhite Is something wrong with 1B Josh Naylor? Someone has dropped him in our league!

Duran has over 10 WAR the last two seasons and BoSox fans are celebrating his benching. Don't see many complaining when he's stacking XBH while on a heater.

@thisisntmymain5 @tbsports33 You're adding in his xSLG which is more POWER tool. He's hit .333 to .370 at every stop and will turn many singles into XBH while stealing 55-70 bags. The pressure he puts on the defense, the shifting alignment advantages he creates are things your metrics don't quantify.

@SeerNotSeen @tbsports33 Nope, he won't because those aren't repeatable skills. Flares are entirely luck. I'm not conflating anything, you need some sort of EVs to pair with contact to get hits. You'll be pulling you hair out when he hits .290 with 3% walk rate and a .340 slug

@thisisntmymain5 @tbsports33 Over 30ft/s to 1st. You're conflating slugging for average. When he hits .320+ on drag bunts, flares, hustle doubles and choppers I'm sure you'll be pulling your hair out along with the opposing manager. He's a rare breed and outliers always throws wrenches into systems.

@SeerNotSeen @tbsports33 You're not going to like this but because you need to pair barrel control with some amount of bat speed to generate hits. If my grandmother had excellent barrel control it would do nothing bc they'd all land right in front. Ichiro was able to pair the two

@thisisntmymain5 @tbsports33 How does barrel control not directly lead to hits? You're trying very hard to make Simpson into a lesser player because you prefer high EV aesthetics or something.

@SeerNotSeen @tbsports33 It's not defined as reaching base through contact. This is part of my gripe with this whole thing, everyone thinks that's what it means. Fangraphs defines their hit tool as barrel control and plate discipline. He has 70 "put bat on ball" not 70 "ability to get hits"

@thisisntmymain5 @tbsports33 You're disregarding the basic meaning behind his 70 hit tool, which is reaching base through contact. EV/LA are useful and predicative but Simpson relies on spray pattern and H to 1st times. He led all of MiLB in average with the same 82 mph flares and -24° infield choppers.

@tbsports33 I'm not really talking about scouting definition of "hit tool." His ability comes from bat to ball, not from good EVs or LA. He is simply hitting right now because he puts lots of balls in play and is getting very lucky even with his speed. It's not sustainable

@SayomGD Fwiw, Judge made note of slow guys like Naylor racking up bags and said he'd like to improve in that area this year. Now Jazz also made off season mentions of going 50/50, so best laid plans...

Aaron Judge randomly has periods of fascination with stolen bases He steals 4 in 7 games, then doesn't steal again for 2 months, then has another stolen base phase, and finishes the season with 12

@GreenfieldMax18 Lumbering range for two seasons with well below average arm strength and baserunning. Basically his value is walking for a potential two run Judge bomb.

Trent Grisham has an 87th percentile xwOBA, 74th percentile barrel rate, 99th percentile hard-hit rate, 99th percentile chase rate and is walking 24% of the time. His groundball rate is up 6% from last year and his pull air rate is down 7%. Correct those and he'll be good.

@YankeeSource Because we didn't realize that Spencer Jones is just no longer a viable option at the major league level no matter how much we hope he finds a way to make contact at the plate but it appears that's never happening. Grish also moving much better in the outfield to begin the season

Trent Grisham took a lot of heat this winter from fans, but he’s off to a promising start in the leadoff spot. 24.2 BB% so far this year.

@JLas43_ At one point he had three straight hits against him with exit velocity in the 60's. His control killed his length but he didn't get knocked around at least.

@_24kin Throw Goldy at DH every 4th day if you want him to get some work. The string of righties narrative is irrelevant when you have Rice sit consecutive days without facing live pitching right out of the gate. Unless you feel going Goldy today will keep him in rhythm 10 days from now

It’s really simple, the Yankees aren’t facing a lefty starter until AT LEAST the Athletics series Ben Rice is not going to be a platoon bat, but it’s good to get the platoon bats some work considering the lack of lefty pitching matchups upcoming It’s really so simple

DeLauter has been ranked in the 40-60 range on most prospect lists the last few years, but that was 100% solely because of the injury concerns. This is a Roman Anthony/Konnor Griffin type of talent that we get to watch in a Guardians uniform for the foreseeable future.

@BetMGM Roki must be for engagement. Shitty fastball and completely dependent on hitters chasing the split. This list is better for 2 or 3 years. There will be others like Kade Anderson who leapfrog within the next half decade.
