@reyvas @GoingParabolic You guys really should do your research before posting. The panels are the oxygen tanks, not the cabin. The LM top half leaves the bottom half on the Moon. The LM then rejoins the orbiting CSM. The Command Module is the part that returns to Earth.

This landed on the moon and then returned to earth. Then we lost the technology.
Today we have the technology to circle the moon.
