@lahti_johan @GregLehman @SportsmithHQ @jb_morin @chrisbramah At the conference I presented the discrete data (peak MTU length) vs continuous analysis (SPM). Discrete analysis showed an increase while continuous did not. The hope was to generate conversation about avenues to move the paper forward, which didn't happen. That's where I am...

Shayne when is this coming out? Seems very interesting. Will read it today as im writing a blog on fatigued sprinting and it seems currently the results are a bit mixed; some athletes lengthen with fatigue and some dont. Your study showed on a group level lenthening, did you have any participants that had the opposite effect?

Sprint Mechanics & Hamstring Injury Risk From @jb_morin When it comes to sprint performance and hamstring injury prevention, small mechanical adjustments can make a big difference. Research from @chrisbramah has shown that just one degree of anterior pelvic tilt is associated with an increase in injury risk by 80%—a crucial insight for coaches and practitioners working to fine-tune sprint mechanics and keep athletes healthy. This Sportsmith Premium presentation dives into the latest research on sprinting mechanics, how ground reaction forces interact with the body, and what movement patterns place unnecessary strain on the hamstrings. JB breaks down practical exercises and rehabilitation strategies that can be implemented to optimize sprint mechanics and reduce hamstring injury risk. Want to learn how to refine sprint technique and protect the hamstrings? Check the full presentation out below ⤵️ sportsmith.co/videos/sprint-…

I get a lot of invitations. What people write in their invitations: - Long explanations about themselves or their company or podcast - How great they think I am, with my name copy & pasted into what's obviously a template - More explanations about whatever lecture series/program they are working on - Who else has spoken at their events or podcasts What I want to know: - Where is it - When is it or in which time-zone - What do you want me to do* - How long will it take** - How much do you pay*** - If applicable: Expenses covered and if so, which *** Last time I accepted an invitation without honorarium, they first messed up my hotel booking and later made trouble with paying even my economy flight. Not doing this shit ever again. (I eventually got my money back but srsly wtf.) ** You pay me for my time, not for the time you record. If you want me to talk for 30 mins on camera but that requires a 2 hour prep, you have to cover those 2 hours as well. * If you invite me to give a 60 mins talk but then schedule me for meetings and lunch and dinner for an entire day, I will say no to all add-ons I was not informed about up front. I strongly recommend that instead of inviting people like me, who you only know about because we're clogging your feed, you look beyond popularity and find someone who isn't (yet) widely known. Go discover someone new and in 10 years you can say that you saw their value before anyone else did, instead of inviting old Sabine who always says the same thing anyway. My emails all go through an agency (which filters out all the theories of everything) and sometimes I ask them to follow up on an invitation. But since this happens so frequently (it's really the norm rather than the exception) I thought it would be worth putting out a note.

@SportsmithHQ @jb_morin @chrisbramah Chris, was this a biomechanical modelling study or a prospective one where injuries were tracked and correlated with pre injury pelvic kinematics during sprinting?

Excited to share this pre-print where we used shape-based modeling and object-oriented data analysis of ground reaction force waveforms (rather than discrete biomechanical outcomes) to predict knee OA progression and clinical traits in the IDEA trial. arxiv.org/pdf/2409.13938
