@CatChen I thought so too before, but for many cancer stage 1-4 largely have similar treatment. The cost of getting imagining for the 75% people who will never have cancer in their life probably outweigh the cost of treatment, so wait till people get symptoms is probably cheaper.

I wonder if these studies that claim imagining will do more harm were funded by insurance companies that don’t want to pay. I know 5+ people who found stage 0-1 cancer early from routine imaging that wouldn’t be covered by US insurance. They got $50-100 MRI/ultrasound in China. I also know 3 people who only got imagining after having symptoms and died from stage 4 cancer. There’s a reason why Americans have the lowest life expectancy amongst developed countries and highest remission rate of late stage cancer. By the time the cancer is found it’s already late.

Went out with a native Shanghai girl recently. She told me that she went on two dates in her life where her parents arranged the dates with the other party's parents. She described how the fact that the guys came from *non* Tier-1 cities was a turnoff. It surprised me how the city of origin matters. But I suppose in China the city tiers have implications with not just status but perhaps education level and wealth. I have never heard of anyone in America getting rejected because he came from a random city in Heartland America or the Deep South (whereas college, job, and race are very much grounds for rejection). Imagine a 6'5 blue-eyed Yale-grad finance chad from that silly viral TikTok song strike out because he grew up in Gary Indiana.. It's so interesting to see the extra attributes that confer status (and hence matter for dating) in a particular region.
