@Speedkicks @AutoMattock Its not a unique FG thing as card games have similiar things gate keeping "basic" interactions behind mechanics and well, *reading* and they still do well. Having the game acclimate you to the FG environment and what it requires you to do would do a lot for the onboarding

I agree and think you’re correct that the games should do a better job naturally teaching players. But I think we also can’t ignore that a part of the frustration is a result what happens when you are losing in a FG specifically. Hit/block stun disabling the character like getting chain CC’d in a moba until you die. The only way to be allowed to play the game is to know how to win an interaction and get a chance to do your thing. Which puts a skill demand on actually engaging with the game at all…which may be a unique FG issue. So I think if we rephrase “people don’t like losing” to “people don’t like getting beat up” it makes product solutions more obvious. - Make them get beat up less even when losing (Tekken 7) - Make winning easier (Strive, Street Fighter 6) - Single player content (MK) - Properly teach the players (no one’s done this yet I think)

Just as a reminder xQc AND Shroud were so scared of Dokibird's Marvel Rivals team they were competing against in the tournament, that they whined and bitched to Twitch, resulting in Twitch actually changing the rules THE DAY OF THE TOURNAMENT. This resulted in Dokibird choosing to drop out so her players wouldn't be forced to do so and they could compete for the prize money. And Doki's team absolutely CURB-STOMPED both Shroud and xQc's teams and went on to win the tournament. Clearly neither of them have gotten over that absolutely humiliating loss and now have some kind of pathetic vendetta against VTubers. Seriously guys, grow the fuck up.
