@JaredCBurt I saw today someone post that female pastors displease Christ. There is zero Scriptural support for that claim. What there is, is a restriction by Paul with a debate whether it is local or universal forever. That’s it.

This sounds reasonable. But SBC pastors have been trained to believe “the Bible is clear on this issue.” For many, it’s not 80%, but 100% certainty with no room for disagreement (“compromise”). Anyone who disagrees has rejected biblical inerrancy/authority and therefore is in sin

Why some of us can rejoice in women “pastors” even if we pretty much disagree with the idea. First, take a less fraught example: baptism. Suppose you’re 80% convinced the Bible endorses only believer’s baptism, not infant baptism. That still means you think there’s a half-decent chance you could be wrong. Since this is a matter of church order rather than morality, perhaps that possibility should be enough to let you attend the baptism of your friends’ infant child and even find some joy in it. After all, there’s a meaningful chance this practice is biblical, as many thoughtful, biblically serious Christians believe. Likewise, suppose you’re 80% convinced the Bible restricts women from doing pastor-like things. That still means you think there’s a half-decent chance you could be wrong. Since this too is a matter of church order rather than morality, perhaps that possibility should be enough to let you sit under the preaching and ministry of a gifted woman and maybe even find some blessing in it. After all, there’s a meaningful chance this too is biblical, as many thoughtful, biblically serious Christians believe. At least, that’s how I’ve come to think about it.

@JaredCBurt This is why folks should support local autonomy. Sr Pastor is male-then theres your male elder as chief overseer. Then let the rest be up to local churches-otherwise theres no end to the silliness.

If the “Truth & Unity” amendment passes and a church with a female Executive Pastor wants to remain in friendly cooperation with the SBC, could they achieve that goal by changing her title to “Director of Pastors” or “Chief of Staff”?

It’s a birthright tourism company and just this one company has brought OVER 2,000 FOREIGNERS TO AMERICA TO GIVE BIRTH
“That's the name of an actual company that is facilitating birth tourism into the United States, where foreigners come in on visas, have children, then leave so that their children can remain American citizens”

I looked more into this
- It is a Miami-based maternity concierge service that specializes in helping foreign nationals travel to the US to give birth
- Their website and marketing explicitly target international clients especially from Latin America, Brazil and more
- They say they have assisted with over 2,000 international births in the U.S.
But it goes even further than that
Services include:
- obstetric and pediatric care
- logistical support for housing and transportation
- visas guidance
- delivery at facilities like Mercy Miami Hospital
- postpartum care.
This is a highly sophisticated operation, and it’s all to exploit our HORRIBLE birthright immigration loophole policy
The House Oversight Committee says they’ve found many of these companies

@geekyguyjay It's not a game. 2:11-15 has nothing to do with a local Ephesian issue. Paul grounds his instruction in creation BEFORE the fall. Paul says his letter is to instruct for behavior in THE church not a local body (chapter 3).

You define “leadership capacity” narrower than Scripture, the SBC, or this amendment ever intended. I have my own issues with the amendment, but not this.
