@libanan__2 @valigo @OlexGameDev Shader debugging wasn't working with Vulkan, when I was impmenting a renderer in it. But maybe they fixed it, it's been a coule of versions since then.

GPU programming is so cool! You need 600 lines of code to add 2 numbers. You don't have traditional stepping debugger, instead you have validation layers and renderdoc. GPUs don't have branch predictors and are heavily parallel, so you really don't want if conditions. It's basically like getting into programming all over again. My head hurts, but like in a good way. I'm learning!

This "moral complexity" is a self-smokescreen for those who simply dislike the notion that it is possible to have a complete, conclusive, holistic moral framework in the first place to handwave their own moral agency but still look down on others.

@oecolamp An LLM is probably more capable of synthesis than most of these 'people'- and were they capable of understanding the word 'synthesis' as more than a mere token they would be shamed by that fact.

@oecolamp I find the mass production (and present glut) of 'students of philosophy' frustrating for this reason- they are all regurgitators!- and what good is regurgitation? None of these people can apply the concepts they've 'learned' let alone build upon them!

@oecolamp Personally, I strive to Be Better- I want to tell stories of alien morality, give them their fair-shake and compare & contrast. To ask seriously "What are we like?" & "What could be?" & "What can't we be like?" & "What lives & what dies?"

I am a scientist. Most of the people I work with are nerds. Many of my close friends are too. We’ve all had the discussions about Star Trek, who is the best captain, which series captures the true essence of the techno-optimism , etc etc… no one I know has seen this show. It’s not a left right thing either, they just tried to use the Skinsuit to attract a new “modern” audience. Which never seems to show up. It’s just so strange so many brands do this. I think it’s an excellent reflection on our society’s collective narcissism. Ham fisted and cheesy as the older series were, they at least discussed big ideas. What is the purpose of law? What does it mean to be living? What would a society driven by this or that vice or virtue look like? Those big ideas are replaced by the personal. What does it mean to be a minority in a majority setting? What does it mean to be a gay alien? Blah blah blah. It’s the same story told over and over. They’re not asking what would a warrior culture look like, they’re just making the warrior gay and lame.

@oecolamp As others have said, it probably is just the infectious nature of coed- accommodation always backflows into norms. A military of 'machos' would certainly have problems, but maybe not these exact problems!
