Interpretive statement: People didn't need cholesterol lowering medication before the existence of cholesterol lowering medications.
Camus@newstart_2024

Dr. Rachel Marynowski shared a perspective on cholesterol history that makes you pause. In the 1970s, doctors weren’t aggressively screening for high cholesterol because levels up to around 300 mg/dL were often still considered within a normal range. Cholesterol is something the body produces and needs for many essential functions, including cell membranes and hormone production. Then in 1984, the National Institutes of Health launched the National Cholesterol Education Program. This coincided with pharmaceutical companies developing the first statin drugs (the first one, lovastatin, was approved in 1987). Over time, guidelines from groups like the American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology lowered the thresholds for what was considered “high” cholesterol. The result? Millions more people became candidates for cholesterol-lowering medication. Dr. Marynowski, an integrative physician, points out that this shift happened alongside heavy pharmaceutical involvement in research, education, and guideline development — raising questions about how much science versus commercial interests shaped the narrative that cholesterol is primarily a villain. Science nugget: Cholesterol is vital for human physiology. The body synthesizes most of what it needs (about 75–80% in the liver), and it plays critical roles in producing steroid hormones (like cortisol, estrogen, and testosterone), vitamin D, and bile acids for digestion. Extremely low cholesterol levels have been associated in some studies with higher risks of certain health issues, though optimal ranges remain debated. It’s a reminder that medical guidelines and “standard care” can evolve — sometimes influenced by more than just pure science. What are your thoughts on how cholesterol guidelines have changed over the decades, or how much weight you give to the role of pharmaceutical funding in shaping them?

I’m a dissident in Iran, connecting right now via @Starlink during the #DigitalBlackOutIran‌. The vast majority of Iranians vehemently oppose this regime. Thousands of us have already died proving it. Most of those martyrs had active online accounts. Look up their names. You’ll see they all stood for a free Iran and the return of Pahlavi. Our most common slogans say it all: "Long live the King" and "This is the final battle — Pahlavi will return." Right now, the Iranian people are staying in their homes because @realDonaldTrump , @netanyahu , and @PahlaviReza himself asked us to until the bombings stop. We are waiting. We know the price of freedom will be high. But the price of letting this regime survive is far higher. We have accepted the cost — this war. The regime’s time is over. #KingRezaPahlavi‌ForIran #IranRevolution2026

Nothing you do, show or prove will stop race laws in South Africa. Show them that it hurts the economy Show them that it doesn't benefit the poor Show them that it halts transformation It won't work because those were never the intended goals. The goal was to punish White people. So when whites complain about them it achieved it's mission. The ANC is willing to watch black people starve provided it also hurts white people. Your mistake is thinking you're dealing with a rational actor that's merely misguided.

Vandag lang werkswinkel gehad oor stryd teen raswette.

The Islamic regime has confirmed the death-sentence of 18 year old Melika Azizi was carried earlier today. Melika was arrested in January 2026 during nation-wide protests and charged with "moharebeh" (waging war against god for allegedly burning Islamic regime symbols. In court, Melika told the judge: "You let so many young people bleed. How can I remain silent? I don't care just kill me" She was a brave young lady!
