Inspiring story of a very special mission during the Bosnian Genocide, nicely told by @SkyglowProject (many more on the account). We certainly don't hear or talk enough about Bosnia, esp. given that the social media generations usually know so little about it.

@TheBosnian11 You should start off with a remote and a bag of chips in your hand and watch the game and let Barbarez do his job. You are not the head coach. Relax and let the man do his job. You don't even know the fraction of what Demirović contributes to Barbarez's style of play. So relax.

Benjamin Tahirović and Ermedin Demirović should start on the bench against Qatar. There comes a point where selection decisions have to be based on performances, and neither Tahirović nor Demirović has done enough recently to justify a place in the starting XI. Tahirović, in particular, should be nowhere near the starting lineup right now. His performances have been consistently poor for far too long. He lacks intensity, struggles to cover space, offers little defensive protection, and repeatedly slows down our build-up play. Progressive passing is almost non-existent, with most of his distribution consisting of safe sideways or backwards passes. On top of that, he commits far too many errors in possession for a midfielder whose primary job is to provide stability. At this stage, it is difficult to identify a single footballing reason why he continues to start matches and regularly play 90 minutes. Simply put, his performances have not been at the level required for international football. Demirović is a different story. His work rate and pressing ability are valuable, but his recent form has also been disappointing. The missed chances have received most of the attention, but his overall contribution on the ball has been equally concerning. Too often he looks disconnected from the game and struggles to influence attacks. Against Qatar, where we should dominate possession and spend most of the match attacking, this is the ideal opportunity to try something different. The solution should be a more technical and creative lineup. Ermin Mahmić deserves to start as the attacking midfielder behind Edin Džeko. Alajbegović and Bajraktarević should start on the wings, while Ivan Šunjić and Ivan Bašić provide balance in midfield. At full-back, Memić and Amar Dedić should start, with either Sead Kolašinac or Stjepan Radeljić partnering Nikola Katić in central defence. We cannot afford another slow and passive start. If there is ever a match to reward form and creativity instead of reputation, this is it.

Parking the bus in every single game and being unable to keep possession for more than five seconds is not going to get us out of this group. I have serious doubts about how we're even supposed to create three genuine chances against Qatar. Dedić was far too weak defensively. Ndoye got past him almost every time down that side. After the first drinks break, Barbarez switched to a 3-5-2 because of Kolašinac, but all it did was push us even deeper into our own half. Meanwhile, our best midfielder sits on the bench for 90 minutes and then comes on and scores a goal like that. Barbarez has shown that he offers very little beyond setting the team up to defend with all eleven players. At least that's how it looks right now. Alajbegović and Bajraktarević need to add more muscle mass. At this level, their physicality simply isn't enough, no matter how much technical quality they have. Even 33+ year-old full-backs were able to keep them under control.
