Trump’s endorsement of Paxton makes sense.
1. If Cornyn won, he’d be in his last term, would feel freed up, and could be unreliable for Trump in 2027 and 2028.
2. For Trump, Paxton’s corruption is a feature not a bug. Corruption is more reliable a hold on someone than ideology.

With due respect @jrpsaki, I think maybe we spoke once while you were at the White House… so I’m not sure how you would know what I thought.
But since you’re curious: I believed the DNC should have been empowered to do its job, organize aggressively not just in the midterms (but also the presidential cycle), communicate directly with the base, and operate as a PARTNER, not a subsidiary whose tweets, press releases, and routine decisions required constant White House approval.
We raised historic amounts and when I did try to ruthlessly define the opposition we were told by folks in WH comms or the Deputy Chief we couldn’t or that our approach or rhetoric was too sharp.
I never sought a policy role but if I thought a policy didn’t make sense politically, particularly for minority communities I respectfully made it known.
But I digress…

The Pennsylvania senate race was actually more sinister than people remember. Black democrats said Fetterman should be rejected for the incident where he pulled a gun on a Black jogger for no reason. They’re either incapable of accepting the will of the voters, or have some serious problems understanding that a lot of older black reps have earned their goodwill. That didn’t happen after the primary that happened after the general election. Obama was elected and then re-elected. White conservatives hated that. The 2016 primary was a disaster because of Bernard Sanders and his establishment rhetoric. Black voters supported Hillary and that pissed certain people off. 2020 Biden beat Bernard because of Black voters in SC. Obama and Hillary was different.
