My thoughts on this World Cup are that Europeans are desperate for it to fail, for whatever reason (insecurity?) @JoeWStanley @paulpowlesland If I could get a resident beaver to restore nature on our farm for free then I’d be delighted. I’ve got a hedgerow to coppice and another one to plant. I’m not sure I could trust them to meet the RPA specs, though.

For context: access to post-Brexit support schemes in England to support nature friendly farming across 70% of our land area have been suspended for 11 months and counting.

@Slug_95 It appears DEFRA employs c23,500 people, across various departments e.g. Natural England. The DEFRA head office is c3,500. It’d be interesting to see how many would take part and what that would entail.

Farmers moaning again. I do wonder what £650k actually buys here and what budget it comes from… I had Environment Agency office staff here one time; they helped build a dam. Two younger folk were cartographers; neither could cut timber with a handsaw, so I taught them. One of them was vegan. They all got something from listening to me describe the regenerative grazing system and how it contributes to their work.

@Slug_95 @1GarethWynJones Over 4 years though so approx 160k per year. Don’t have a personal opinion on the value for money thing without knowing how many individuals will be ‘trained’ and how extensive the program will be (eg maybe includes hotel costs if a multi-day program).
