@PatrickRuffini Anyone following immigration debates in Congress for the last 15 years knows that it’s the GOP and not the Democrats who have been afraid to take the votes. Many of us will not forget what happened in 2013, when the house GOP buried what had been a bipartisan plan.

This path to a not-terrible midterm now seems more plausible: - Some kind of successful resolution on Iran - Trump then goes to the Artemis splashdown - America 250 good vibes - Midterm convention - Actually force Dems to take bad votes on things like deporting criminals

@PatrickRuffini Amazing to see that even still, your allegiance is so strongly to your party and not to the country. And not even to a long-term vision of your party, but instead just a vision that clings to Trump. Shameful, but also deeply sad.

The Right's collective brain is getting melted in a vat of slop, conspiracy, and algorithm-chasing. An intelligent man will guard himself against all of it.

Let me get this straight: House Republicans are arguing that circumstantial evidence should defeat the presumption that specific Executive actions are valid or lawful.🤔

@bethanyshondark @mbrooksrjc It’s telling that this is even considered a “hard stance.” mainstream liberals, and sane conservatives, who all left the GOP, have been warning about this for years. You’ve been inching toward the right end of the horseshoe for years, & now want to pull back before you fall off?

@bungarsargon @KevinRobertsTX Funny to realize you’ve been focusing all your energy and anger on the wrong side for the past few years. Many of us mainstream liberals have been seeing for years what you just seem to be realizing today.

This whole video is based on the assumption that "the interests of American citizens" doesn't include Blacks and Jews who oppose the normalization of racism and the inclusion of Nick Fuentes in the conservative movement. Nauseating, repulsive stuff from @KevinRobertsTX.

There has been speculation that @Heritage is distancing itself from @TuckerCarlson over the past 24 hours. I want to put that to rest right now—here are my thoughts:

@bethanyshondark You’ve chosen the wrong side. The other side is an actually both ends of a horseshoe, but you put yourself very close to one end—much closer than mainstream liberals are to the other end.

This is a day of clarity. Truly a turning point moment. When people tell you who they are, believe them. I’ll certainly never forget it.

@migueldeicaza @dieworkwear Really? A bunch of families whose kids died from drugs they got in the mail - many of which the kid thought were not fentanyl- say this is a problem. And your response is that? That’s why the left is despised, just zero curiosity or seriousness.

@EWErickson Nah. Kennedy is in charge of HHS because of who the conservative movement chose as their presidential candidate. The conservative movement went off the deep end and elected an insane person as president, who has appointed unqualified pranks to virtually every cabinet position.

The arrogance of the Biden administration’s health department is the reason that Robert F Kennedy Jr. is now in charge of it.

@njh2005 Hardly. Equity was created by an English King to appease his subjects. It’s not even close to foundational in anything but Marxist creeds.

The Supreme Court’s job is to preserve the status quo until legal questions are resolved and explain the disposition of cases for the public. They are abdicating basic principles of equity and failing to fulfill their institutional role. They aren’t even attempting to do law.

Yes, but that equity and what is referred to as equity today are different principles. That is referring to a system of law developed by the English Court of Chancery, that is still a part of our system alongside Common Law. Equity as used by people today tends to mean equalizing outcomes in the name of fairness, but that is not Constitutional equity.

@YIMBYLAND @zapatas_mom @whstancil Trump’s election—twice!—along with the dramatic rightward migration of successful GOP politicians provide incredibly strong evidence that the median-voter theorem doesn’t explain US voting at the state or federal level.

@zapatas_mom @whstancil The median voter is a 50-something white person who didn't go to college and lives in Toledo, Ohio.

Do you not understand why the Mexican-American communities who are being persecuted for being Mexican may want to carry symbols of Mexican identity when they protest that persecution? Do you see how requesting they not do that is functionally a continuation of the persecution?
YIMBYLAND@YIMBYLAND

William, where did I demand anything? William, in what world is a guy who says “more neighbors, more fun” a nativist? William, do you deny that seeing a bunch of folks in USA clothes/bikinis getting gassed might be shocking to the majority of normie Americans? Crazy take.

@JohnDryden85 @JackFiller17 @Tzor @JLLiedl I think it matters that Halleluyah is a compound word with a precise syntactic meaning in Hebrew (praise be to Yah [the Lord God]). In Greek and Latin, Alleluia originated in transliteration & was directly imported w/o independent meaning.

@DieHardySix @Noahpinion Now I think you’re probably trolling, since Gavin Newsom famously was sleeping with the wife of his good friend & campaign manager, while Newsom was married to his first wife.

@glukianoff This is really beneath you: ascribing bad-faith motives w/o evidence, using ad hominem & invective. What happened to you? If anything, recent events at UATX, Trump admin’s bad-faith use of antiwoke & anti-antisemitism to stoke state repression etc tend to prove critics correct.

They hate the Harper's Letter signatories so much because it represented a moment of clarity where the left could have righted the ship, but instead the haters were and are the people who mocked it and dismissed it, while probably always knowing the signatories were actually right. So they must come back to it time and time again, to villainize signatories who included Noam Chomsky, Nadine Strossen, and Salman Rushdie, because to do anything other would be to admit they've made, and are continuing to make, a horrible mistake. The letter reminds them of their arrogance, foolishness, and cowardice.
