The extent to which gulf states and Qatar have sought to buy up control of media and entertainment in the United States is a real threat. People actually concerned about foreign influence should be very wary of these efforts. bit.ly/4tIJu9K

I want to be sympathetic to Mr. Wade's plight. I really do. But why are we all seemingly afraid to point out that he was an LPR with a fast-track to citizenship, yet for decades never actually bothered to become a U.S. citizen? Yes, I understand that his 2006 simple assault charge and 2007 bounced check probably sank his citizenship chances and got his green card revoked. But he came in 1975. His military service ended in 1987. He was a shoe-in for fast-tracked citizenship. There's a span of at least twenty years between the time he became eligible to pursue citizenship under 8 U.S.C. 1439 and the time he committed the 2006 offense that would ultimately get his green card revoked. He had TWO DECADES to become a citizen. He apparently chose not to pursue that option. Had he done so, his citizenship could not have been subsequently stripped for these offenses, and he would not have been deported. cbsnews.com/atlanta/news/g…

@schmidthawk @sweenprs @AmySwearer A decade old deportation order he had never been given the opportunity to challenge and had no knowledge of. It was well within ICE’s discretion not to detain or deport him until he had been afforded due process.

WTH! He had a deportation order. ICE is legally required to enforce a judges deportation order. Sure. You are used to Biden illegally ignoring the constitution and the laws on the books and WANT everything to follow your rules conveniently. If you want laws changed then lobby your congressperson and pressure them to agree to an immigration bill. You ignore this over and over just as you ignore that he could have gotten citizenship. You are wishcasting your political feelings. You have made zero arguments other than let’s ignore the rule of law.

@schmidthawk @sweenprs @AmySwearer WTH are you talking about? The law as it exists allows this man to stay in the country. He is not being deported because it is legally required but merely because it is allowed.

Then lobby your congressperson to change the rule. There is no enlist and you are immediately a citizen. However, we all know citizenship is expedited for them. To you it is just some procedure so you can rationalize away any rule. No surprise you run with the abuse rules crowd when you cannot get congress to change rules. And then cry when it’s not the way you want.

@sweenprs @schmidthawk @AmySwearer What a ridiculous argument. The fact the man served this country matters. The fact he built a life here matters. The fact he has family here matters. The fact nothing in the law requires the man be deported matters.

@Humble_Analysis @asymmetricinfo Not sure where you are getting this information. Life expectancy after the age of 60 increased by almost 3 years in the past 30 years.

@asymmetricinfo Life expectancy has not really changed in the past 30 years - and whatever small improvements there have been can be attributed to declining murders and car accident rates. Medical "advancements" haven't added a day to life expectancy in the past 3 decqdes.

@sweenprs @schmidthawk @AmySwearer His failure to follow some procedure to show his level of commitment to the country pales in comparison to his actual service to the country. Any offense taken by those whose citizenship required no effort at all on their part and never served their country is unwarranted.

@sportsrapport @jr_bohl I would disagree but we have too many midwesterners here during the winter to encourage any to stay for the summer too.
