@SoLongAphasia

Just the impulsive thoughts of a 21st century schizoid man. If you're conscious you must be depressed. Or at least cynical.

@atlanticesque As someone who got a 540 writing SAT score but a 720 in math, it can be frustrating to have a logical idea in your head but difficulty expressing it persuasively. AI often is no help because it seems to ignore any logical ideas you feed it and invent new illogical slop

I was struggling with a major mental block about writing a certain passage. I tried to get AI to write it for me. When I read what it had produced, I was so angry about all the points it had missed and bad arguments it had made that it motivated me to actually write the thing.

@thecandykeynes @avidseries Definitely not, but looking at the video from the 70s, midtown in the day did look peaceful. Now it’s pretty full of homeless zombies. Go check 22nd st in Chelsea and many other spots. Homeless encampments are starting to return thanks to Mamdani and things will get worse soon

@thecandykeynes @avidseries Today a huge majority of murder is black on black gang violence, much of it occurs in public places, and they are careless and have bad aim. In both times stranger on stranger crime would be uncommon, but now it’s slightly more random where and when it will occur.

@SoLongAphasia @avidseries > Back then the vast majority was interpersonal conflict in private residences that escalated to murder thanks to guns. Is this in any way true? Are you saying a pedestrian in NYC has a higher chance of being murdered today versus 1970? That seems....unlikely.

@asphaltjungle45 @avidseries Yeah but survivability for attempted homicide like stabbing and shootings can rise. We’ve gotten much better at saving lives. Public disorder is very high, and midtown Manhattan looks worse today than it did in the 70s with those murder numbers. Statistics do lie.

@crowbar_up @avidseries I have no idea what your talking about, but a seven month old bay was killed by a stray bullet like 2 days ago. That’s not fiction retard

@QueensCrapper Try explaining to Mamdani supporters that a closed 311 report doesn’t mean something was actually fixed. Half of them don’t even live here.

The mayor doesn’t care. The city council doesn’t care. The police don’t care. This happens every weekend and sometimes during the week as well. No one cares.

@questionableway There is no “more work” he went on social media and asked people to submit work orders, so they are able to close more work orders.

We now have an answer to the question of "is NYC just doing good social media posts about service delivery, or is service delivery actually changing?"

@LetsGoZohran @PEWilliams_ You don’t seem to have a problem with the fleeing to the suburbs part. Maybe you realize that all your comrades will be doing the same and going back to Ohio after a few years of fun larping as a revolutionary.

@LetsGoZohran @PEWilliams_ I’ll be fine. You should know by now that communist policies like decarceration disproportionately impact the poor minorities you claim to defend. I’ll just break out the popcorn and if shit gets real bad I’ll just move to a nice all white suburb.

This is what zero enforcement does. A few near-guarantees about the murderer: He’s been arrested and released multiple times for various crimes from moderate to severe. He’s currently out on cashless bail. He’s in the country illegally. He’s wanted for a major crime in his home country. He has an ICE detainer that wasn’t honored due to sanctuary policy. He had known gang affiliations. Most if not all of these are going to turn out to be true. Because it’s true every single time at this point. Because progressives have gutted the criminal justice system and are willing to riot to keep murderers like this in the county and protected from consequences no matter who it kills.

A 7-month-old was shot in the head by a stray bullet and killed in South Williamsburg, last hour. The suspects were riding on a moped. The parents heard the shooting and ran away and noticed blood coming from the stroller. They rushed to Woodhull, where the child was pronounced.

@LetsGoZohran @PEWilliams_ Yea because it makes so much sense to start celebrating after three months of a four year term, as if fixing potholes is the biggest problem the city has. I get it, you commies really need a win now after centuries of losing, but you’re a bit early.

Neoliberal deregulation and new market-rate construction will never deliver affordability on a fast enough schedule. Cities need to look beyond these kind of market-oriented solutions and embrace ideas like higher crime and worse schools to drive rents down fast.

@constans That apartment could go another 10 generations belonging to a family that was simply lucky enough to rent it in the 80s for dirt cheap. Imagine paying property taxes and maintenance and being forced to basically pay someone else’s rent forever. That’s life for half landlords here

I’m not buying unless I can do a comprehensive actuarial analysis. Maybe the tenant can send me his medical records. Barring that, I want the tenant’s age, height, weight, blood pressure, and life spans of the tenant’s parents.

There is a two-bedroom in a good co-op on a quiet street in a nice part of Chelsea was going for $479k and the ONLY catch (besides that you have to pay in cash!) is that you have to wait for the occupant to die to move in

@constans NYC replaced the cap of 12 with caps at 15 and 18, and any building exceeding 12 must now meet mandatory affordability requirements according to the new NYS law.

@HTWardish The headline should really be “immigrant communities less likely to report crime”. China was literally running their own police station in nyc so not everything will be going through easily recorded channels. Italians used the mafia for enforcement as another example.
