@dr3amoperator A lot of it is def plain ol insensitivity and cys nonsense from cys women, but a part of me wants to say that a part of it is cys men see "being seen as a girl" as peak shame but cys women don't and see it as a quirky fact (not justifying outing bc cys ppl be cys)

@ThunderTheDevil They should have had the sound playing over and over as Conquest just laughs maniacally at it. Maybe add blood to his ears once he escapes. Two small changes to make Cecil look remotely competent.

@luciascarlet It's the same as saying a circle is the same as a properly shaded sphere. Same silhouette, entirely different objects.

yes, it doesn’t change the model, technically but all it appears to really do is restrict its effect to a particular silhouette, but obviously a silhouette on its own is not the only thing you read where the highlights and shadows fall is just as important to how you actually perceive 3D geometry as the silhouette is and they VERY CLEARLY do not imply the same features
THE RED DRAGON@TheRedDragon

They’re really trying to gaslight you into not believing your own eyes and telling you this is completely different geometry and a different person that looks worse Imagine being mad at this 😂 DLSS 5

@faizkyokaz This just looks like a normal dude, but in a bad way. Why do they make sci-fi universes but then try to make it look as normal as possible? It looks dreadful.

I remember doing character design work for a company and the client handed me the most generic pinterest scifi wear refs and told me to replicate it. So i tried to do something inspired and they just mad af and the art director told me “i know how u feel, just do what they say”

@dieworkwear When you start out, you only have enough knowledge to find a single good outfit; it seems like math, where if it's not the one 'correct' solution you got it wrong. Once you can find 2 or 3 outfits it starts to feel like an art, where fashion choices are statements or expressions.

something i've noticed is that people who are new to something — whether it's tailored clothing or catholicism — are often very rigid and dogmatic in their thinking. much more zealous than people who have been into it for a while. not sure what causes this.

@Rebel0fReality Let’s be real, though. Christopher Reeve’s Superman was bad too. People only like it because of nostalgia, but it’s just pure 70s lameness

Arguably some of the best most influential superhero adaptations of all time, and I wouldn’t call any of them particularly comic book accurate. Understand the soul function and appeal of the character and their world, and just tell a story from there. Superheroes are modern mythology. They’re definitive, but malleable and have been played around with and reinterpreted by various storytellers longer than most of us have been alive. That doesn’t have to be restricted to solely comic book writers.

I think a good comic book adaptations should be faithful to those characters and their core principles. It doesn't necessarily need to be "comic accurate"

@Rebel0fReality I would love to see a hundred different versions of Wonder Woman written and drawn by young women. I want to see Green Lanterns from every sector imaginative scifi nerds can dream up. But, if you don't get hired by DC, you can't publish any stories about them. 2/2

@Rebel0fReality Now I realize the damage that copyright has done to culture. It's impossible for nobodies to tell stories about the big mythological figures, so the stories more often stagnate and die. 1/2

@scumbagdotdll @TerribleJyon @CTachio83984 The robot is designed for manual labor. Can a snow blower lay bricks? Or paint a wall? Or build a porch? All those tasks are the end goal for one robot. That's also why it has hands. Like a human, it will be able to grab any tool at the hardware store and perform the needed work.

@GenAI_is_real this side of the POV is rarely seen, but yes, I agree. software should be optimized by default, but the dogma that “memory is cheap” is the problem.

unpopular take: 8GB is not the problem, software bloat is. i used an 8GB mac for years and it was fine because the programs were lean. now a browser tab takes 500MB and an electron app eats 1GB just to show you a text editor. we kept throwing more RAM at the problem instead of writing efficient software. if the industry spent half the energy on optimization that it spends on adding features, 8GB would be plenty in 2026. the real question isnt why apple ships 8GB, its why we need 32GB to run a chat app @steipete

@NotPotBol @turnerwingo that’s the only thing I can imagine. they got hooked on the idea that decapitating the leadership would cause the entire country to fall apart and allow a frictionless transfer of power with no boots on the ground, a series of events that has never happened once in known history

@shipulin @MKBHD I don't think so, it seems like there's something about how the screen is designed to make it work. Any app on that phone could probably enable it. It would be nice if banking apps had it enabled by default.

@ochimusha108 I think Arlong is supposed to be a foil for the redeemable characters. As we learned why Arlong was the way he was, we also heard about all these other people who went through the same circumstances and didn't turn to hatred.

Arlong sacrificing himself to save a human, could work the opposite of how his exploits worked in the past. Instead of creating another Hody, he could inspire the next JimBAE not unlike the Strawhats have already accomplished.
